Gabriele's — Restaurant in Sunderland

Although I had booked a table at a specific time I still had to wait over 10 minutes to be seated that is where the negatives end. What a night the food was typically 70s retro - pate, deep fried mushrooms with garlic etc however the quality and quantity more than made up for the lack of imagination. Services was quite quick and could have been slightly warmer but efficient. The atmosphere was likely and the right side of noisy the appearance was typically Italian bestro. The surprising thing was witnessing the turning away of custom therefore booking in my opinion was necessary. This establishment would have received 5 stars had the initial customer service was better and the staff had of engaged with the paying public a little more.

We went last night for the first time in about 3 years. It was fantastic just like we remembered. Fillet steak was cooked perfectly, and chicken rosemary was also delicious. Staff were amazing (think his name was chris or steven ) I told I’ve give him a shout out on my review.

We didn’t book but I recommend you do because it’s very busy, they managed to squeeze us in (table for 2) . The price of the food is the usual you would expect but WAY better than ANY other Italians. Hats off to the chef (hope you enjoyed ur shandy :). )

Highly recommend. Will DEFO return. 10/10 all round . You will not be disappointed if you visit this place . But be warned, once you have ate here all other places you visit after will NEVER...

Without doubt one of the most enjoyable restaurant my wife and I bave been to. Having eaten all over Europe, Gabriel's is up in the top few. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food first rate, and not over priced. We could mix and match with the menu to suit what we wanted. No problem! Went 4 nights in a row it is so good. We only come to Sunderland twice a year, but will make a beeline to Gabriel's next April. We're glad we don't live here because we would soon be very large people as we would probably eat here every day. It really is that good, so maybe twice a year is enough.
