The first time I visited it was the best pizza I've had. Nicely heated with plenty of cheese. As a margherita should be. Subsequent visits, the quality has been lacking and inconsistent. Less cheese on the pizzas than when the store first opened, implying that they were generous to get people in then stingy afterwards. Today I actually walked out, the margherita was almost bald and overcooked - crust was literally blackened and charred, no slices sold from it. Cheese looked like a layer of parchment. Previous orders have had hardly any cheese on the pizza and they refuse to add extra, even when I offer to pay extra, but today looked so unappetising I left without ordering, truly disappointing. It's a shame, the pizza was amazing when it first opened but the quality hasn't continued. Staff are great. Queues were going out the door when it first opened but now it's quieter, it doesn't take a visit from Kitchen Nightmares to point out that inconsistent quality is a factor. I live in the city centre and would be a regular customer if the quality improves....
Read moreI visit Slice every now and then as a treat, but my last experience was pretty disappointing. There was only one staff member working when I went, and it was just me and two men in the shop. The staff member called over to the men, mentioning there was a different chef on and the pizza might not be as good. He offered them an extra slice each for free — even though they hadn’t mentioned any issue with their pizza and were happily chatting away. Despite them declining, the staff member insisted they take it!
Meanwhile, my pizza was so thin that as I picked it up, it started forming holes and was practically see-through. I had to fold it in half twice just to eat it. It felt like I didn’t matter as a customer. I was completely ignored. No extra slice offered, no acknowledgment... nothing.
I don’t want to be a Karen, but the whole situation really put me off and made me feel very unwelcome. If there’s a problem with the food, all customers should be treated fairly — not just the men. It’s a pizza place, not...
Read morePizza by the slice was appealing when walking through the town centre, but these 'slices' are on a whole new level. One slice fits snuggly in a 9' pizza box, if you want a second slice there will be some overlapping without a doubt! I opted for the Bolognese pizza instead of my trusty favourite pepperoni and I can confirm it was the right choice. The Bolognese wasn't all over the pizza which meant it didn't make the base go soggy. The flavour was spot on and for £3.50 for a whooping slice, you can't complain. I arrived at lunch time and it was very busy, the staff were clearly rushing to fulfill orders so it did feel like a conveyor belt to get your order in and get you...
