Hi,
Today at 12:30pm I went to Fego to have a brunch with my daughter (4 years old) and my little one (5 months old). As I arrived there was no one in the queue so we stood by the door and waited for the host to come to provide us a table. The host (a lady, quite slim, short hair, fair skin with plenty of rings in her hands) sadly, I could not take her name hence the description. She is not a waitress she is a host because she was not using uniform as the others do, saw us and was just there laughing with whom I believe where people she knew but never acknowledged our presence, she then stood in front of me and starting to type something and take some cutlery and again she would not even look at me to acknowledge our presence. I was standing there with the kids and for her it was like we were invisible, after 5 minutes of waiting she asked me: table for how many people? and I told her 3 of us and she disappeared for another 5 minutes more. I could see from where I was standing that there were tables available. When I saw the manager a gentleman I called him and told him the lady saw us and left us waiting for the past 10 minutes, he then said that he is the host and he will take me to the table. After, I was taken to my table, she smiled at the people who were standing behind me and took them to their table straight away. After, we finished our meal the host (gentleman) asked the waitress to provide me with the bill and she did not, I was already standing with the two kids so I could pay and leave, when he saw me and brought the bill himself. Before leaving I told him the following: I understand you are busy and I am not expecting to be taken to a table straight away, there should be a reasonable time for waiting and I understand that. However, the host should have acknowledged my presence and at least said "good afternoon, it will take 5-10 or 15 minutes please" and I would have make a decision on whether to wait or not, this is about respecting the customers, she completely ignore us while she was laughing and serving other tables just in front of me. He then said, it was not personal and everyone has their own roles this is not our standards I apologies for that.
I must add that the food is absolutely delicious, I am local and go there really often, also I always asked my NCT friends to meet up there, but with staff like her that showed no respect and lack of education towards the customers it really brings...
Read moreToday, I visited this restaurant, eager to try the South African boerewors. The food is standard at best, and I was sadly left disappointed by my experience.
As a South African who traveled quite a bit to sample the boerewors, I was shocked to be told I couldn't order just the boerewors because it messes up their stock! What??? This is the first restaurant I've ever visited that refused my money and wouldn't serve something on their menu. The dish that originally includes the boerewors is not to my taste, so I had to order something else and ask for the boerewors on the side.
My recommendation to Management: invest in a proper POS system that can help you manage your stock! Why not keep extra stock for eventualities like mine? If you have such a system but your staff aren't trained, maybe get them trained.
Additionally, the baked goods are all open and exposed to outside elements, including potential contaminants (people were standing at the goods discussing what they want and we could see the spit spray!!!). People walk past and talk near them, which raises concerns about hygiene. They look good, but I don't even want to think about contamination. Did COVID not teach restaurant owners anything???
After having avocado on toast, I was still hungry and had to go across the road to Costa for toast and jam. Honestly, having breakfast at McDonald's or Starbucks is more satisfying and filling! We will definitely not be back.
Overall, the service and hygiene practices need serious...
Read moreCame for the first time today during one of the 2022 heat waves. The food was flavorful, colourful and well presented. The shakes were so good I debated getting two. I decided on the Oreo shake but if you are a chocolate lover, the chocolate one is richer and thicker. The portion sizes look modest but are surprisingly filling. If you like big portions and want brunch/breakfast food, I guess you could add on chips. However, I went in really hungry and came out full (I like a big portion normally). If you like fresh juice, they make it right there with ingredients; water is readily available too. The ambiance inside was really nice and outside was full as well. The staff were friendly and the wait wasn't too long at all (about 15-20 minutes).
The pictures aren't the best as I had to snap them quickly and they don't really do justice but give you a rough idea at least. The pinky grey bowl is the Ranchero peachy bowl is the Full Mediterranean (both from the breakfast/brunch menu) and the dark bowl is the chicken and waffles from the brunch menu. The drink is the Oreo shake.
I would recommend and will definitely be...
