Amazing First-Time Experience..
After deciding to eat out last night, (21/9/19), in order to celebrate her birthday, my partner and I then trawled through Trip Advisor reviews and such like in order to decide on a suitable restaurant. Having found Aroy Thai restaurant in Clacton and duly noted its positive reviews and comments, we decided to book a table for our evening meal. The booking process was quick and easy, with the phone being answered promptly, and with the call-taker being polite and efficient. The best part was yet to come though...
Having arrived at the restaurant, we were quickly shown to our table, and then within a short moment, a waitress arrived to take our drinks order - at which point, she scurried away, only to return with our drinks a minute or so later. A few minutes later, she then returned to take our food order. We were allowed just enough time to settle down, enjoy a short Chinwag and drink, when our starter arrived. The starter (mixed starter for 2) was very well presented, piping hot, and thoroughly delicious. After our empty plates had been removed, we were again allowed just enough of a gap before the main course was presented. Again, the main course (I had curried lamb shank) was excellently presented, full of flavour, piping hot, and literally melted in the mouth. Overall, the whole dining experience at Aroy Thai Restaurant was excellent. The staff:- friendly and very efficient. The phone was answered promptly when booking. The Food was excellent. The waiting time for service was spot-on. The waiting time for drinks/food to be delivered was more than reasonable. The food pricing was very reasonable.
It became clear very quickly why this restaurant was packed, and I for one would have no trouble in going back there to eat - or to recommend it to...
Read moreThought I'd give this place a try on the basis of the good reviews they've got and my recent love for Thai food. What a disappointment. The fish cakes were so, so DRY to the point that they must have been cooked and left out for a number of days, chicken satay was undercooked and delivered in yellow kebab box tray, rice I couldn't separate from the multiple large clumps within the container and the thai green curry was GREY, not like the pics they have at all, and looked like grey sludge when combined with the rice, which wasn't very appetising. Prawn tails were also not cut off like they were in the pics but I won't mark them down for that. I chucked most of it in the bin. Chips were actually fine, just standard kebab house chips delivered in a yellow carton.
I wasnt sure what to do at first, was gonna leave it, but the thought of how much money I wasted got to me, so I called the next day for a partial refund, as I felt bad asking for a full refund (the owner, who delivered, said I gave him less money than the cost when I said keep the change, but I definitely gave him just over). He said he would not be helping me as I didnt call on the evening. Only reason I used these guys is because thai vintage (very good restaurant) are currently closed. I've also eaten at thai 1 in colchester many times (also do delivery work for them on occasion) and they are, far, FAR better than this place. Avoid this place if you can guys if you want Thai food in Clacton, go to Thai...
Read moreWas looking forward to visiting this restaurant last weekend but what a disappointment. I booked a table for 4 as I thought a Saturday night would be busy but when we arrived there was only another couple of tables taken. This didn't make the atmosphere that great. Ordered 9 dishes and only found one that was OK. The main problem was the quality of the chicken which did not taste fresh or have a good texture. I lived in Thailand for sometime and although was not expecting the same level of food, I know what the dishes should taste like. I would say don't waste you money and cook...
