Unfortunately our experience at Bellas wasn't as we had hoped. We were told that the wait for a Jacket Potato would be 15 minutes however it ended up taking 55 minutes, even though we were some of the only customers in the restaurant. If a longer wait time would have been mentioned to us first, we would have simply ordered something else. As well as that, the food just wasn't enjoyable. The salmon and avocado ciabatta felt like it had sat for a long time and was overpowered by mayonnaise. The folded egg ciabatta which was shown on the menu outside had concentrated areas with a lot of black pepper and other areas with none, it also got served without the side salads which all of the other ciabatta's received. When we tried to explain this to the staff during and at the end of the meal, we felt like the comments were not being received well and felt like we was made to feel wrong for giving honest feedback. There was no offer to try to make up for it either by the staff. We didn't expect to not pay for the meal however a discount/drink or whatever would have been a nice gesture to accept some responsibility for the issues with the meal which we thought we're genuine. I rarely write negative reviews however there was a lot of issues with our meal and I felt there was little effort to make things up to us. Also, we could see a butternut squash on the kitchen floor for the entire duration of our meal, being kicked accidentally by staff as they passed by - why this wasn't picked up at multiple opportunities is beyond me, it doesn't look reassuring from a customers point of view.
Bella's is a new addition to the highstreet that I am most looking forward to see grow.
I had an amazingly tasty breakfast wrap with a hot chocolate and it tasted really good. I saw someone order the topped fries and got immediately jealous I know what I'm ordering next time!
Everywhere seemed spotlessly clean and I saw staff cleaning after customers left.
Staff were so polite and checked in on me to make sure everything was all okay if I wanted any sauces ect.
There was a beautiful piano in the corner that still needs to be tuned. After inquiring they are still waiting on a licence for music.
The atmosphere was a bit quiet. I am very sure when they get their licence it will be a very nice place to have a hot drink and a quick light bite.
When it came to payment I was surprised at my price. I honestly expected to pay more but apparently there was a deal on that I hadn't spotted. A nice surprise :)
I recommend this place to someone looking for a cozy corner of broadstairs a 5 minute walk away from the shore.
Vegan and gluten free options were available. Nut items are sold here but at time of ordering are only kept in front in the form of a cake. Kids options available as well. This place does have stairs in entrance. But has step free...
Read moreWe were drawn to Bella's because of all the 5* reviews. So so disappointing. Bella's has obviously just started just eat as they appeared overwhelmed with orders. (A reason continuously offered to us as reason for delay and long wait times) Unfortunately this led to (the only) face to face customers being pushed to the back of the queue and even a simple drinks order being walked away from to prioritise a just Eat order coming through. Almost an hours wait for an uncooked breakfast .. which certainly wasnt communicated was being cooked from scratch as service finished at 12... although we arrived and ordered at 11.45 according to our parking ticket and charge on bank...and the only options on the menu was breakfast... if this had been an issue...it should have been honestly shared... really disappointing as the ingredients appeared good quality so all the makings of a really lovely brunch. Service with a smile also goes a long way... neither girls appeared to actually want to be there... Will not be returning. (I am happy to provide photos of the uncooked food with review...
