Food was nice as always with costa, other than the fact that the pastries were from a box and not fresh which surprised me. Coffee and service - not professional at all. For starters the woman behind the bar had her hair loose which is not appropriate in a food environment. I asked for whole milk and this same woman behind the bar completely disregarded this (even though I directly asked her) and used semi. I asked for it and if I’m paying for a coffee it’s important to me. Imagine if it’d been an allergy and she’d have overlooked it- dangerous. She had terrible stressed out energy and seemed to be struggling over making three orders. If you want a Costa coffee feel free to go here the drinks are as good as any other costa but you may need to have a good part of your day set aside to order and...

Also, there are a couple of oddities about the large menu on the wall: Although crumpets and fruited toast were on the menu, l was told they were not sold at that particular Costa. Also, toasted teacakes 'are not sold this close to Christmas.' Seasonal teacakes? How peculiar! When l checked with the Costa Drive Thru l was told they don't sell crumpets or fruit toast either, but they're no longer on the menu anyway. Fortunately toasted teacakes are still available! Apparently the Costa in Northdown Road is a franchise and not owned by Whitbread, so l guess they can do their own thing...
