Arrived at the Coach And Horses on a Saturday evening with my friend at 9pm. I am not only flabbergasted by my experience but beyond appalled by what I witnessed. After ordering two double krakens and bottled coke and paying, I was awaiting my drink arriving in front of me however this is where my confusion began.. as the gentleman behind the bar proceeded to serve another customer. When I questioned if I could have the drinks I had paid and waited for he then immediately asked if I was joking, if I’m serious and proceeded to tell us we had our drinks. (Which we hadn’t even laid eyes on). After confirming for about the 6th time whilst clearly puzzled I do not have my drinks. He then left the bar and came around to see if what I can only imagine is that we were hiding our drinks behind our backs? As he was still questioning the whereabouts of the drinks that he had in fact quite clearly lost the location of. Whilst looking around and confirming to my friend if this is what is actually going on I still had not received the drinks nor an explanation as to why I had being accused of stealing drinks as the barman was busying himself explaining to his pal at the end of the bar the situation of the mystery drinks. He then walked over and again asked me of the whereabouts of the mystery bloody drinks! To which I said I’m offended that not only has he checked behind my back but he is still questioning me when it is beyond clear I didn’t receive the drinks. He then completely ignored me and with a turn of the back questioned another member of bar staff if she had seen the drinks. She then instructed him to redo the drinks. At this point I couldn’t quite believe that not only after not receiving my drinks, being accused and then sharing I was offended with no apology or response for quite clearly his own misunderstanding I then asked for a refund as I no longer wanted the drinks. To which he responded ‘ok’ and with another turn of the back began serving another customer. By this point by blood was boiling. All I wanted was a refund which I had to ask another memeber of staff for. With something as simple as the words sorry about that I could have quite happily enjoyed my evening at the coach, thus spending money. However I will now take my money and most definitely spend it...
Read moreI’ve eaten here many times before and never had an issue, but this was by far the worst service I’ve had here — and in a long time anywhere.
We booked for the Sunday 2-for-1 roast offer at 6pm with 2 side portions to share. One meal arrived at 6:20pm with one side, while the second roast didn’t show until gone 7pm after chasing staff twice. It was dropped on the table without apology or cutlery, by which point the cauliflower cheese was stone cold and the stuffing balls never arrived at all. Staff only checked in as I was finishing my last bite, far too late to put things right and get the stuffing from the kitchen.
The food itself was fine, when it came, but the service was shockingly poor. No offer of a refund, no attempt to recover the experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning for food or watching the football — The Western will now get our custom instead for these...
Read moreHad the ribs mid-week and loved it. Other stuff we never had a good experience of and so just sticking to this. Staff have been getting more and more friendly the more we've been visiting.
5months before above review: I've been on a Sunday and had their Ribs and they were meaty, moist and full of flavour. However, recently went on a Sunday and had their Roast chicken and it came out so dry it the breast was cracking. I'm kicking myself that I did not complain and send it back. It was even more embarrassing that we had bought friends with us telling them it was great. This is the reason for the 3 stars. We are going to try their Ribs on their Thursday specials. IF that goes well I'll increase the rating. Staff are OK, can be hit and miss on their friendliness. Also, my son had their full English which was decent. However, Dolce in Ricky does it ever so...
