Goodfellas Cafe — Restaurant in Tonbridge and Malling

This was simply the biggest rip off I have ever experienced. A large black coffee £3.75, you could actually see through the coffee. It tasted like what I assume dishwater tastes like. Sacrificing quality for profit, shame on you. A big boy breakfast £11.95, the only food on the plate which was hot was the very poor quality sausages and the hash brown. The beans, mushrooms, toast, eggs and bacon were all served cold. I’ve since costed the very poor quality ingredients for this meal with booker cash and carry. The entire meal cost £1.65 to produce, this is daylight robbery, producing an 83.5% gross profit, 23.5% above the industry standard, this is a disgrace to people working hard in this industry. Shame on you. When I complained to the server that the breakfast was cold it was taken away and that was that, no explanation, no manager apology, no nothing. So after waiting for a while for a replacement breakfast we decided to leave, to find out that they expected us to pay for the plate full of cold food we couldn’t eat. I was shocked by the rude, untrained staff, basically shouting at us that there was nothing wrong with their food. But there was, it was reheated to below the legal limit, thus putting their guests in danger of potentially getting food poisoning, again shame on you. The sauces on the tables were branded bottles which had been filled with cheap poor quality sauces, the labels were grubby and the best before dates had been removed. Passing off products for others is illegal in this country, shame on you. Investment in team food safety training is essential for this business, as is the sourcing of quality items for their menu. So where to begin? Tea was like dishwater, food was sooo greasy everything just felt like bulk bought food that was cheap and greasy.

Service was good but hand on heart, my wife threw up in Waitrose afterwards when we finished, we went to Waitrose for a coffee “as we never really drank the dishwater” and paid £16.90 for a traditional breakfast and an omelette.

On reflection we could’ve have gone to Teal or Waitrose and had fresh food, great tea and coffee for about £13.50.
