We came for Sunday lunch - the food was really good apart from the sprouts and carrots which were undercooked. They don’t trim the base or take the tough leaves off the sprouts which makes them really tough/inedible. The meat portions were delicious and huge! Great to have some massive roasties and all the trimmings. It did seem really unorganised today - I’m not sure if the boy running the bar was new or if they were short staffed or perhaps this is the first time they’ve ran lunch service? But with only 3 tables to serve, the young lady serving was very good even though it was her first day. She was very sweet. Deserts were also lovely. It’s the loitering locals who ruin the pub, hanging around at the bar, they don’t move to let you get through to the toilets nor do they allow you to approach the bar. Two separate locals enquired if we were local because they hadn’t seen us there before, when actually we have been before with the previous owners— I found annoying and intrusive. Surely it doesn’t matter if we’re local or not? (We are, born and bread!) I would like it if the owners had a chat with their bread and butter regulars and told them to be more friendly and inviting, to allow customers to feel welcome in the pub. I would also like to see some more organisation / staff with regards to where you’re allocated to sit because no one seemed to know and we had to wait 15 mins to sit down even though it was empty. It may be because they’re new to doing lunch, or have a new bar man (tall boy with brown curly hair) he was polite and said he wouldn’t be long but then served people coming up to the bar before us. It was just abit all over the place. I overheard a lady asking for a baby change and they don’t have one which seems crazy, I can’t bring my grandchildren here until they have one as they’re babies. The old owners had a small play area with Lego and cars which is brilliant for kids - I’d like to see this reintroduced. I would visit again because the food was so good and the prices were reasonable too. However I hope the owners read this and make the changes they need to make it...
Read moreStayed at the village Inn for a few nights, will never go back. Husband and wife owners are terrible, super unfriendly, I felt like a burden. They scrimpted wherever they could at the expense of guests. Turned the water off while I was in the shower, was reluctant to give me a heater because the room was so cold. Also I paid £5 extra each night for breakfast, told me 3 different times when breakfast starts and all I got was a bowl of cereal, cooked a fry up for themselves and ate I'm infront of me, so paid £5 each night extra for a bowl of cereal! I don't know why they are in the hospitality business when they clearly don't like people. The husband told me it's been slow, like no wonder, treat your guest better! Was a very bizarre experience, would've given 0...
Read moreWhy can't i give it 0 stars? Absolutely horrendous, the only member of our party who didn't eat was the dog and he got off lightly! Chicken stack burger made with a fundus chicken fillet from Tesco's and a damp brown roll and a hash brown? No thanks. Lasagne that was home made that was void of any flavour.. a frozen finger roll with butter and raw garlic...is that some kind of joke? Steak pie, again home made but no flavour, fish pie again home made but not flavour? Can you see where I'm going? Served with vegetables? Frozen peas !! This place is a joke and I don't write this review lightly it was terrible and this lot cost £60! Wow,! So do yourself a favour and avoid it like the plague, I've literally been robbed in front my very eyes. Avoid...
