The Drift — Restaurant in Torridge District

Food average. Service appalling. Tried to order through just eat, £65. App crashed so I just rang up to order. Women on the phone was a bit rude, but i ordered & paid over the phone - stupidly without checking price as I assumed it would just be the same as on just eat. However, statement has just come through and they've charged me £75! An extra tenner for going direct and saving them the just eat fees wtaf? Told it would be 45 mins. Got there on time to be told it would be another 5-10 mins. 25 minutes later they finally bring my food out, and then they immediately accidentally drop it on the floor. To make this worse I think it actually bounced down another customers shoulder before hitting the floor and that customer didn't get an apology. They gave me a bottle of wine to say sorry but that certainly did not make up for the shocking service - and due to the fact they charged me an extra tenner it wasn't really a free bottle of wine at all. Would never order from here again, the food wasn't anything special even if the service hadn't been...

Venue; scruffy, front door very hard to open. Service; young waitress wasn't sure of which pizza was most popular. Cutlery was obviously second hand as it was blunt where once it was serrated. It made.cutting anything a real effort and chore. Average. Food; very poor. Pizza base tasted of flour, not seasoned. Toppings where cheap. Too much cheese which tasted of nothing but fat. Tomato base tasted as if where over stuffed with cheap dry herbs, awful. Very small topping portions. Prosciutto was watery and warm. Garlic bread had no real garlic on it just a haze where butter had melted. We think there is a great restaurant in there but the owners need to get the detail right. A pizza base should have a hint of sweet and be crispy and brittle. Toppings fresh, abundant and of high quality. The tomato base full of fresh herbs. No dried herbs at all. Cutlery is a basic and needs to be fit for the job. Please accept this as honest and see the chances to improve. It's not wild criticism bit we hope you can look at what others have nailed...

Over an hour waiting for food which really fit was it was is overpriced. Staff aren't really friendly sat with empty glasses for the majority of the hour whith out anyone coming over. Sat and a grubby table with old crusted food on the placemat even my napkin was stuck to the table. When our food finally did come out they weren't even served together, a while table next to us was served between our meals. Plates were just put on the table as the waitress said nothing and walked away. As for the food, honestly the portions are small and I've had better tasting and less watery ready meals...
