Have visited this restaurant many times over the past years and have always really enjoyed the food on offer, however the last three visits my husband and I have been quite disappointed as the 2 steak meals we had were very basic, ribeye steak was grisly and fatty, and came with only a handful of chips 3 mushrooms a warm tasteless tomato and a spoonful of peas, and it was bland and tasteless, not the high quality of cooking I have had in the past at cc. The plates for the carvery I'm sure have got a lot smaller, and the lady carving gave me only 1 small slice of meat, as she did with my husband too. We felt we couldn't complain as we were with a party, but later discovered some of our party felt the same way as us regarding small plates and small portions of meat, and unfortunately a very unhappy looking carver. The staff at cc are brilliant, the sweet trolley is delicious, and I won't stop coming here, but I hope they will invest in some larger plates for the carvery, be a little more generous with their meat portions, and chip portions, and perhaps look into how they cook their steaks, and perhaps only buy leaner steaks. The Waterfronts carvery are £4 cheaper with proper sized plates and much bigger meat portions, a really delicious meal, perhaps I was just unlucky on these 3 occasions, but I hope cc will get back to the high standards they they...
Read moreI'll go over the four rating points individually. The SERVICE took 20 minutes to offer drink orders, another 20 for them to arrive and an hour for the food to arrive (we were one of two groups of people in the restaurant). Said food was not what I ordered, so they took it back and easily led me onto my next point... The replacement FOOD arrived within minutes, clearly not exposed to the same standard of cooking as the rest. It was microwaved and inedible, forcing me to leave it alone and brood about my troubles. The DECOR, while on the surface quaint, was quickly revealed to be as horrific as the rest of the experience here. DO NOT USE THE TAPS IN THE MALE TOILETS. When I turned one on something small and furry hung from the tap in the water flow, leaving me to speculate on what it actually was, and to use the burning hot tap to cleanse myself instead. The COST, while not through-the-nose pricing had a hidden cost not mentioned in the menu- the food gave my girlfriend a painful stomach bug the day after consumption. In conclusion, unless you have a voucher and have literally nowhere else to turn to for food, avoid this place at all costs. Even then I'd...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling. Won't be going again. Asked for nut roast when asked by the waitress. Went to get our meal and was asked " what do you want" " I ordered nut roast" got tutted at, he went to fetch it and threw it from one plate to another. When asked it I wanted veggie roasties i so no and got tutted at again. On finishing collecting the gravy the waitress came to carry my plate, to which i said No I'm happy and able to carry it myself, after a few words i got away with my tray just to have someone else try taking it from me, i tried to be insistent that I wanted to carry it myself. He virtually snatched it from me, we got to the table he took my plate from the tray and plonked it on the table saying" there that wasn't to bad was it ? Well i was so cross i said nothing . But my point is hygiene and the different peolpe handling my plate, the carvey counter man handles it, then they carry your food in front of them breathing all over it, then handles your plate, again to put it on the table. I just think its horrible and if you want to carry your own plate you should be allowed to. The nut roast was dry and burnt. And generally not nice. Sorry...
