I so desperately wanted to leave this place and give it a 5 star review, but unfortunately I was not able to based on my visit here.
Before I go any further I must say that the service, cleanliness, atmosphere were all excellent, but the food just really wasn't very good. I came for an evening meal and I cannot speak to the breakfast.
There are not many places you see with a 4.9 review score so I came here with high expectations. We arrived around 7:30 for my girlfriends birthday dinner, we were sat down and ordered a number of items from the small plates menu and this is where it started to go down hill.
The corn was mushy and overcooked, covered in a weird sauce, unpleasant. The chicken wings, little flavour, bang average. The potatoes, covered in a horrible cheese mix and tasted like they had been cooked days before and the ciabatta with cheese that came out looking like a childs pizza bread.
We also ordered the small plate of lamb, at £13 for a small plate I was expecting something really nice, however no seasoning, raw in the middle, small portion and just very underwhelming.
None of the food was awful, but average at best and when you leave with an £84 bill for two people, you expect a lot more. Instead we were served average food and wine by some really friendly people. I will be back to try the breakfast as this must be where...

If you’re looking for the ultimate coffee and breakfast experience, look no further than California. This place is an absolute gem—charming, welcoming, and filled with the delicious aroma of fresh coffee and homemade goodness.
The coffee here is top-notch. Whether you’re a straight-up espresso purist or someone who loves a beautifully crafted latte with oat milk and a hint of vanilla, they’ve nailed it. You can tell they take pride in sourcing quality beans and preparing every cup with care.
But the real magic? The breakfast menu. Every dish feels like comfort food made with love. The pancakes were hands-down the best I’ve had—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The pancakes are fluffy, the pastries are baked to perfection, and even the simple things like toast and jam are a notch above.
The vibe is warm and relaxed, with cozy seating and friendly staff who clearly love what they do. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee to go or settling in with a book for a slow morning, this spot makes you feel like part of the community.
Highly recommend stopping in—you’ll want to make it a regular part of your...

Well here is you chance. California Coffee in Altrincham serve a lovely flat white alongside some really good brunch options.
I was torn between 'The Beverley Hills' and the 'San Diego Salmon'.
On recommendation of our server I went with The Beverley Hills. 2 poached eggs, feta, smashed avocado, sweetcorn & red onion Pico, crispy shallots + pickled onions all served on Sourdough.
No fancy presentation, flavour combination worked very well. Alot of crunch & freshness. Personally for me I would have preferred the eggs softer as one was almost fully poached and this particular sour dough is very crisp. I wasn't expecting that.
My husband got 'THE DON BREAKFAST BURRITO' A flour tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, coriander, chilli jam, crispy onions & cheddar. He also added halloumi for extra protein 💪. Served with a side of tortilla chips.
He really enjoyed his burrito, it was very much sweet & savoury style which made it different. Very filling as well.
With great ambience and friendly service it's definitely a Brunch place to visit. My next choice would be the San Diego Salmon or B's...
