Haldi Lounge & Spice Grill, Indian Restaurant Manchester — Restaurant in Trafford

Originally known as the Standard, it’s now called Haldi. We had a Groupon voucher for Saturday evening and there was no problem with using it that you get in some places. Of course it was a reduced menu, but only an extra couple of pounds to upgrade, but we didn’t need too. 3 of us had the chicken tikka starter which was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked, really very good, my wife had the murgh chat puree, which was excellent. We asked for a medium hot chicken Pathia, which was only medium too us, but we do eat most of the hottest chillis when cooking, so we’re a bit different to your average, but I guess it would be good for others. The quality was very good, the service was very good, when we asked for the air con to be turned down, they did so straight away. Haldi was mine and my partners favourite Indian restaurant/takeaway for years and we recommended it to so many people as the food was delicious and amazing. Sadly this is no longer the case. The last year or so the food has been steadily going downhill and today’s meal was the final straw. Curries were bland, far too watery and just tasted of sugar. The meat in the curries was over boiled and had a mushy texture. Popadoms stale. Onion bhajis so bland that the only flavour was oil. I’m really upset to be writing this review as the food used to be so good, sadly the standard has slipped so much that I don’t think I’ll even try another meal from here again.

Visited this place last night ordered out food including veggie samosas. After my partner bit into one being a vegetarian she knew instantly it was meat. When told the waiter he went to confirm with the kitchen and came back with an attitude and another member of staff to argue we ordered meat ones. They agreed to no charge for them some how they are only 2.50 but the menu says a little different. Challenged the waiter once again and he was just a rude individual who could really do with taking round the back to be taught some manners.
