We had a table booked at 1pm for my mums birthday. Party of 8 including 3 children. We go in and are shown to our table only to be told we needed another chair and she would get one. Everyone sat down and I stood waiting for a chair and I waited and waited. No chair came so I went and got one myself to which I heard her say oh yes I meant to get another chair! We got our menus and decided what we were ordering it took 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Me and my sister ordered meat and potato pie to be told it would be half an hour so I said to my family is that ok, the woman said well it'll be half an hour for your food anyway. We got our drinks a good 10 minutes later. A small group came in to the table I had had to take the chair from so I could sit down and the woman said oh I'll have to get you a chair because someone took it, to which she promptly brought another chair, shame I wasn't treated with that level of service!! So we waited for our food and waited and waited, eventually after an hour of waiting I got up and asked how much longer it was going to be as everyone was hungry and the children were getting fed up of waiting. She said it's coming now so slowly bit by bit everyone's food arrived. All the pancakes the children had ordered were cold so my sister told the waitress to which she was told they would replace them or warm them up but by this point we weren't prepared to wait any longer so the children ate them. The woman who I assume was the manager came over to apologise and reiterate that they were short staffed today, I said that's not my problem and it's my mums birthday today not the birthday meal we had planned. She offered for us to have free cake and anything for the children but only my mum was offered a free piece of cake to take away. At no point whilst we were waiting over an hour for our food did anyone come over and apologise or update us on how long the food will be or even ask if we wanted anymore drinks! Terrible service, I understand they had people not turn up but you don't put that onto your customers. We will not be returning and I advise you not to unless you...
Read moreI was unsure whether to post this review as it feels harsh to share something negative about a local small business. However, I'm still feeling upset about my experience weeks later so decided I would share. A friend had booked a large table for a baby shower. I arrived with my 8 week old baby in a pram, and my sister already had her baby in a pram next to the table. As I entered the cafe, the owner came over and said "we can't have two prams in here". I stood there unsure what to do, and she said "you'll have to put it in the alley way". I pulled a shocked face and didn't respond, so she said "nobody will steal it". I said "It cost £1,200" (in hindsight this might have been a rude thing to say, but I'd had no sleep and baby brain, so apologies for this). I lifted my baby out of the pram, and the lady wheeled my pram and and stuck it out of the way next to the counter. I sat down holding my baby as I assumed she had moved it to a place she was happy with it being. My sister stood up to go to the toilet and was told, out of my earshot, "she still needs to move that pram". My sister apologised on my behalf and explained we thought she was moving it for us. The lady then responded "as if I've got time for that" and "God forbid anyone touch HER pram". I understand that we should have notified them beforehand that we would be bringing two prams. However, there is a much better way to speak to customers. Everywhere else I have been in urmston has been super accommodating, moving chairs and tables, helping to lift the pram up steps etc. I have never experienced such rude and hurtful customer service, and to experience this as a new mum when you're already super tired and emotional I think is appalling. The food was nice, but "god forbid" you ever come here with a pram. I will not be coming here again and I advise all other Urmston mums...
Read moreI had afternoon tea here with my niece for a treat. The scones and cakes were very good, the menu was good value for money and the atmosphere was pleasant. It was disappointing that the vegetarian afternoon tea menu (which we pre-booked and confirmed on arrival) included tuna fish sandwiches, though. The server seemed willing enough to rectify this, but the traces of tuna fish left on the serving plate that she returned to us (traces that I only noticed after we finished eating, and being very hungry we did clear our plates!) suggest a certain lack of care and attention. Overall, I’d pop in again for a slice of cake if I were passing, but I would not make a...
