The food was very good quality and I cannot understand the comparison to “microwave meals” in the other reviews. The pricing reflects the location and the hotel it is in. The only problem we had was service. We had a waiter called Justin and he was oblivious to us, abrupt and came across as unenthusiastic. He didn’t check up on us during our meals, didn’t ask if we would like more drinks or even desert or the bill after the mains and didn’t check with us when only 2 of the 3 mains had been served (even after 20 minutes when one had finished and the other was half way through her meal) and we had to call another waitress over to help us on several occasions. On the other hand Shenac was amazing and is the only reason I am not giving a one star review in service. She was there to help instantly even though it was not her area. I could not be more grateful for her help. Going back to the service situation, Shenac asked us if we wanted to speak to her manager as she was reasonably new and we confirmed we would. To our dismay though, she returned in lieu of the manager to tell us the manager was too busy but we would get a discount. We found that a little disrespectful as we had already been at the restaurant for 2 hours at that point (the time to be served starters and the mains). Read moreMy Pizza was extremely bit bland but my wife had a pork loin chop with tender stem broccoli which she claims was very good. The staff are extremely efficient and helpful. The food arrived in a very efficient time frame and the place has a comfortable atmosphere with pleasant background music. NOW comes the “but” and it’s a huge “but”. The items are overpriced to begin with but the bill comes with a huge service charge. I admit the waitress was very helpful but if I had known another £7.23 was going to be added to the expensive meal, I would have gone into the kitchen to collect our meal myself. I don’t know if this “service charge” is even legal? If I had been on my own and not been caught off guard I would certainly have questioned it. The problem is who really wants to spoil a pleasant meal by getting into legal arguments with a friendly waitress when it’s the management who are fleecing the customers and not the staff who are probably on minimum wages? When I asked the staff three of them walked if suggesting they didn’t understand me, then Danielle dealt with it, she is a credit to the team and apparently the only person with any customer service experience. She was the only person to apologise and not walk away but she admitted it was wrong and dealt with it professionally and efficiently minimising the time my wife was left eating on her own. Needless to say they tried to charge service after all this. Now having worked I. Hospitality fit many years I have never not tipped unless appalled but on this case the expectation of paying the service was enough!
