Frankie & Benny's — Restaurant in Wakefield

Booked a table for five, was seated straight away which was good but was crammed into this sort of booth in the middle of the restaurant which wasn't very ideal but it was way too busy to be moved. People that served us were great, friendly and genuine and didn't have to wait long before receiving drinks and food. The atmosphere was personally avoidable in my opinion, I had a migraine after playing the 4D golf and then to come into a restaurant to finally sit and enjoy some food then have all of that noise after a long day is somewhat off putting. Understandably there were a lot of kids and a couple of birthday parties there which isn't exactly fault of the restaurant for the noise but it's down to whether or not you can ignore it. I tried a sip of my sister's oreo milkshake and I wish I had got my own, highly recommend even topped with whipped cream! Food wise I had the chicken with bacon, bbq sauce and cheese, which comes with oinion rings, chips, colsaw and a corn on the cob. Food was hot, chips were fine, nothing special but still nice. Colsaw was nice too. Chicken was juicy and a great combination of flavours although probably would of liked a bit more bbq on it as it seemed more of a drizzle to what i would normally have but you can ask for sauces to be brought over to you. bacon was cooked perfect. My only complaint with the food was the oinion rings. You only get 2. Now it sounds like greed me saying that considering you have the other things however if you put your index finger and your thumb together In a circle as long as you haven't got stupid long fingers the hole with in that circle was the same size if not bigger than the oinion rings! Which I found disappointing as I preferred them to the chips they were lovely! Overall still would recommend but maybe keep an eye on busiest times as it ruined it a little for me but if I didn't have a migraine maybe it wouldn't have been so bad especially if we were sat at a roomier table. We waited far too long for drinks, about 25 minutes, lots of staff that seemed to be standing around. Food service was then really slow. Starters were nice but then there was another 30 minute wait for the mains. My partner got his and we could see what we thought was mine waiting to be brought out. I asked him to start and after 5 minutes a waitress (manager?) came over and apologised and said there had been an error with my main but it would only be a few minutes and she would ‘adjust the bill to reflect this’. It eventually came and she said again don’t worry I’ll make sure it’s sorted on the bill. Mains really weren’t great, which made the wait seem worse. Waitress came over again and was apologetic as we had left a lot of our food. She then asked if I wanted a complimentary dessert. I said we were fine and just wanted the bill but she was quite insistent to make up for the service and food. I said I was alright and she said she would give me it to take home. When the bill came the ‘adjustment of the bill’ that she’d promised was the free dessert that I didn’t even want so we were charged in full for the part of the meal that we’d actually ordered that was so poor. The menu looks great but it simply didn’t deliver and I feel rather duped by the seemingly helpful waitress who it transpires was only wanting to give me a free dessert rather than make up for the error and poor service. Of all the Frankie and Bennys restaurants I have been to, this has got to be the worst. 10minutes we waited before being seated, after the staff supervisor had cleared and wiped the table for us. The table next to us stood uncleaned for the 2hours we were there!! See pic. And still was dirty two hours later after we left as we went back to see if it had been cleaned. Waitress that served appeared to be new, which we gave the benefit of the doubt. She took our orders for drinks and meals and then disappeared. Our food had been stood for a while once cooked-as we observed the cooks at work. Our plates were waiting 10minutes before a waiter brought them over - which arrived prior to our drinks, which when we asked what happened to pur drinks, the waiter came back with them after 10minutes. There was a birthday also and the staff at this establishment did not perform the duties of celebrating properly. No enthusiasm at all. Their faces said everything when the music sounded. When we got our meals, the chips were warm.and the burger wasn't brilliant. It would have tasted a lot better if they were delivered hot and not warm.
