We came in last weekend as a group of 4 and the place and food was brilliant.
The service from the bar man (largish guy with a ponytail) was to be desired. One of our party ordered another rum and coke but it came in a very large glass with lots if coke in. He was asked to take it back and bring one in a small glass with less coke like the previous one. We watched him go back to the bar and pour half of the big glass into a small glass and then fetch it back! We sent it back and asked for a complete new drink which he wasn't happy about. If we were paying for a double rum we wanted a double rum.
We had two girls serving us our food. One of which only looked young but was fantastic and knew the foods when asked what she recommended.
The other girl who called herself Lana, was friendly and chatty telling us about uni and wanting to become a civil servant and moving to London.
When it came to paying the bill I asked about tips and if they went to individuals. Lana told us that if we paid on card the tips went to all the staff but if we paid cash it went to individual staff.
So I decided to give each of the girls £10 each in cash as a tip and gave it to Lana and she said she would pass it on onto the other girl who I didn't catch the name of. She went back to the till and seemed to pass the money to the guy at the bar who had brought the drink. We didn't think anything of it at the time
But then the initial girl was passing us and we called her over to let her know we had passed on the £10 tip just for her. She was shocked, thanked us with a really big smile and went straight over to Lana and asked her for it. Lana shook her head and said something and walked off.
The four of us at our table had watched it all and to say I was fuming was and understatement. My husband laughed and told me I had clearly just been scammed and thats why he doesnt like leaving tips for anyone.
We were leaving at this point and my husband didnt want me to cause a scene as the restaurant so I said nothing and left.
My point is enjoy the food, watch the drinks are full measures and are what you ordered and DO NOT leave tips as you have no idea where...
Read more(1st experience) Would definitely rate it more than 5 stars the food the staff the over all experience just loved it really did, I'm from hull and enjoyed it that much me are my better half are taking my parents. The pork is to die for I actually sent compliments to the chef and the prawns Awwww just awww really glad iv found this place and Loveday who waited on us, the little gem is so sweet and helpful it was thanks to her I ordered the pork as I felt spoilt for choice on what to have off the menu she actually recommended me the belly pork. Absolutely with out a doubt 10/10 (If I had to pick at anything my rear did get a little numb on the wooden chairs but I have been told most of my life iv no bum so props my fault 🤣 In no ways a complaint). (2nd experience) Been back today and yet again out standing food and service went back with my parents after telling them over and over about this place they did say on the way there if it was actually going to be worth the journey as we from hull and my mother can do motorways but is not a fan said half way threw their mains that it was well worth the travel and would definitely return, I tried salt & pepper & garlic chicken boneless wings so tender but yet so crisp 👌, my mother had pork with veg and jus lovely the fact you could clear tell the veg was really fresh and cooked to perfection with and nice crunch left not over cooked to mush, the jus was lovely aswell, we manage to squeeze a pudding in this time the banoffee which again recommended by Loveday was absolutely beautiful the proper quality cream rather then you more often than not squirt cream puddings didn't last long enough for a pic sorry 😂 shall see you again soon...
Read moreWhile there were just a couple of small things that stopped me from giving it 5 stars, I absolutely would recommend you eat here if you are in the area and wanting a big feed. The portions are pretty big!
I went yesterday with a couple of friends and ordered the "Hot & Spicy" buffalo wings for my starter. It took a little while for the starters to come to the table despite it not being very busy at the time. I'll forgive them though because they had just had a big party in. While the wings were huge (seriously, the chickens they get these wings from must be massive!) and tasty, I was expecting something a bit different from the sauce. It was more of a spicy sweet chilli sauce. When ordering "hot and spicy buffalo wings", I was expecting something a bit closer to a traditional buffalo wing sauce. It was just far sweeter than I was hoping for and the menu could have been clearer about this.
For my main, I went for the "Full House" burger. What an epic thing it is! Not a burger you can pick up on account of the mounds of meat involved! I really enjoyed it and it was just what I wanted. My only tiny criticism is that the paper they line the trays with inevitably gets a bit torn up while you're eating.
Overall, we were all really pleased with our meal here. The person who served our table was pleasant. The food was tasty and pretty good value for money. We'll definitely be going back next time we're...
