Damelio — Restaurant in Wakefield

Me and a friend got starters to share which included the salt and pepper calamari which were very bland and only just warm, another friend ordered the salmon and asparagus pasta which consisted of no asparagus whatsoever and very little flavour - another friend ordered the lasagne which unfortunately tasted similar to a microwaveable meal. The bill then came and luckily enough i checked this over as we were splitting between 4, the waiter had added a bottle of white wine to our charge, which we didn’t order. I did address this issue however the gentleman serving us was a little bit argumentative claiming it was the ‘3 for £16’ tapas deal, however they were already billed as a ‘main meal’. In the end this did get resolved thankfully. The atmosphere and design in the restaurant is nice and relaxing, perfect for a catch up with some friends however as far as the food goes i would not recommend based on how bland and effortless it all is across the board. I would have loved to have given 5* for everything as any other time I'm sure I would have, however there was a few miscommunications. So I booked 2 weeks ago for my nephews 21st birthday, a table of 5 and a table for 2. I was told that I would be contacted prior to the booking date. I rang myself on the day and I'm glad I did as only the table for 2 was booked in! I was told if we came half an hour earlier at 6pm that we could have the table until 7.30pm and they were then fully booked. I arrived 20 minutes early so I could give the cake ect to staff and was told we had to vacate our table by 7pm. This obviously wasn't acceptable to me and they agreed we could stay until 7.30 but they were then booked for a private party. We've just visited for lunch today. Whilst I appreciate it was the eat out to help out scheme and therefore we were only paying half price the food was very unpleasant. I ordered the chicken and asparagus main and it came absolutely swimming in oil. My partner ordered belly pork and most of his meal was just fat. His mum ordered salmon and asparagus pasta and when it arrived there was no asparagus. When asked we were told they had run out! The service was also incredibly slow! In fairness, when the bill came and we challenged again we were refunded the cost of the mains so only paid for our starters and drinks. BUT, based on this experience, I certainly wouldn't be recommending...
