Nice and open cafe, bright and plenty of spaces to sit.
The food isn't great unfortunately. It's a cross between 90's schools meals and 70's greasy cafe type.
It cost us £22.50 for 3 kids meals and 1 adult, which isn't terrible, but the food used is really obviously super poor quality. In talking 2% pork in the sausages. So I'm meals must have cost them maybe a £1 each to make.
The kids love sausages, but even they couldn't eat them. With withered peas and those kind of chips that are so cheap that some of it's cooked, but others bits are under cooked, all in all I would say you need to up to the next level of quality.
The staff make it feel like it's a place for people given their first chance at a job, and that's fine of course, but when you are ordering and the person on the till is litterally just staring at you while you order, with really no engagement it's a bit off putting.
All the milk for the kids was off, so had to have it replaced. There were no arguments when I asked and the lady helping us was very polite.
Honestly, it feels line a place you want to do well because you want the guys working there to do the best they can, but very low quality food, lack of any type of positive energy behind the counter and you just wouldn't go there again.
Either lower your prices to suit or increase the base quality of the food...
Read moreDined in for lunch whilst shopping. The place was busy but really needs to step things up.
The staff all seemed very young and inexperienced. No one seemed to be taking control. The food arrived and had to send a main fish meal back as it was raw in the middle, opted for a jacket potato which seemed like the safer option.
The food was basic but edible second time round. The staff did apologise and gave a free drink which is why this review has two stars and not the one.
One thing that did worry me was what seemed like a lack of kitchen hygiene and basic management in a food environment. We witnessed one staff member cleaning a spill up in the kitchen with a cloth, then turn the cloth over and wipe the other side. I hoped she would finish and then go to wash her hands but carried on serving by the counter.
Staff were in and out of the kitchen freely and staff with longer hair were not wearing hair nets which is a requirement.
Hopefully the owners pick this review up and start to put in...
Read moreWe have eaten here twice, the first time in May was lovely food, second visit was extremely disappointing as the food for two people was terrible. The staff were really helpful and very friendly however the food quality was very poor, the omelette eggs were not blended with milk or butter and it was clearly cooked in a dirty omelette making as it came with black burnt pieces and mucky oil on it and when cut it was gray on the inside!? Quiche was not light and fluffy but heavy and a funny texture as if it had a binding agent in it not pleasant, coleslaw was extremely chunky and chewy and the salad came with a side order of rotten/moldy onion with skin on !! Will not be returning for a third visit and I recommend you give the place a miss unless it just a cuppa and slice of cake you are looking for.
In reply to your response I visited on Wednesday 18th June...
