The sourdough bread is the best I've found. No supermarket can match it. It's costs £4.85 so the bread is more of a treat than something to buy weekly. The sweet pastries are lovely too. Why it's a four and not a five is because if you want a cheese toastie they charge you £6.60 which is too expensive. You could buy the loaf of sourdough and some cheese for £6 and toast it yourself and have about 6 sandwiches at home or more. I doubt they will change the price due to this post and because people are willing to pay it as they sell out almost every day but I think it's a shame that they charge so much. A cheese toastie which just cheese and little bits of red onion and leek should be 4/5 pounds not 6.60

This is my 2nd visit to the bakery as I don't very often go to Abergavenny, but I will always ensure that each time I do, i visit and purchase! This time, I solely bought sweet things, and I highly recommend the Sugarloaf Cardamon bun. It was perfectly baked, enriched buttery, and light as air dough with a delicious cardamon sugar glaze. The brownies were probably the best I've tried, and I've sampled hundreds all over the world, so this really is high praise. I didn't think the person who served me was particularly welcoming, not really any dialogue. Alas that wouldn't stop me as the last time I went the service was good.

Fantastic little bakery with a good selection of deli products too. The sourdough looked and smelt top drawer and the almond croissant were some of the best I’ve had. The filling wasn’t an overly sweet paste like some bakeries use - it had more texture, more almond flavour and wasn’t sickly. The chocolate brioche was also excellent - crispy top, soft fluffy inside. And to top it off the staff were all lovely so zero complaints.

Absolutely fantastic bread (as expected), but also deluxe sandwiches, a lovely display of organic fruit & veg, Spanish deli items, olives, oils, chocolate etc. There's a very high quality, unfussy range of cheese and an interesting gathering of bottles including fine cider and a great mix of beer styles from The Kernel brewery.

I think that the combination of an uncluttered layout, (which is ideal for quicker decision making) and the very friendly and unpretentious staff make this a very enjoyable shopping experience.

I look forward to many...
