If your looking for a pub that really has a soul, the Coach is the place to go. Being one of the oldest pubs in the town, the coach and horses is very deep rooted within the community so there's always great conversation close to hand. The drinks are cheap, the Guinness is cold and there's always friendly, local Abergavenny people about. They don't do food, but don't tend to mind if you sit out the back and eat a take away from one of a choice of many across the road. The atmosphere is relaxed on weekdays (I randomly bumped into an MP here once) but more lively on weekends when it can be more of a young persons pub. Don't expect anything posh (go up the road to the Angel for that) it's a salt-of-the-earth local loved by many. If you like a little light rock music and a lot of great company, then come on down...
   Read moresome guy was hanging out on the door with a bunch of his mates very casually and then when we tried to enter physically blocked me and my friends from entering without proving he worked for the pub, and then after we got in went behind the bar and drank a shot straight from the tap. after we left him and his friends insulted us and told us how we werenât welcome back. the bartender was very friendly when we got in and apologised for the âbouncersâ behaviour but still didnât kick him off the door as he was still there after we left. great place but terrible atmosphere set straight...

It is a bit run down, rather the corner pub type than a place to enjoy as such. Could show a lot more atmosphere if it was cleaned and the unnecessary stuff removed. Nevertheless it's good...
