ASK Italian - Cardiff — Restaurant in Wales

We visited this restaurant for a meal. We were shown to our table and the four seats were so dirty I had to ask the staff to wipe the seats which a staff member promptly did, leaving the seat too wet to sit in. On wiping the seat with my napkin you will see attached the dirt I lifted from the seat after it was wiped by the staff member.

One of our party ordered a mixed green side salad and was given mixed green broccoli and peas !!!! Hardly a salad. When we highlighted this to the staff member we were given some attitude about how we had ordered this despite the menu saying side salad.

Her sharpness was evident instead of suggesting changing the said side dish.

To be fair the food was not a meal was ok but not brilliant and certainly would not expect such poor customer service attitude in any restaurant.

The staff member had an opportunity to replace the greens with a salad but made such a big deal about ‘our mistake’ the situation became embarrassing and she left leaving the greens… poor show guys!

Ps don’t wear your best white or cream suit as the dirt of the chairs...

I came in with 3 of my friends to eat lunch here, the table we sat in had leather chairs which were very dirty to the point were we had to put tissues on top so we could sit. Even when we asked for tissues we were told with a stanky tone that we could use the ones provided for the cutlery. We then asked for plastic forks because we didn’t feel comfortable eating with the metal ones. The food was difficult to eat with plastic so I opted for the metals again hoping that they were not dirty. The fork had food on it and left me disgusted. I told the manager and she didn’t even apologize or even admit to their mistake. She just said that “these things happen” and she would just provide us with new cutlery. I told her that we do not trust that she will give us clean ones if they didn’t even bother to check the ones we first got. She left the fork and didn’t even take it to the kitchen. I couldn’t even finish my food because of their lack of hygiene...

The service was absolutely lovely and the restaurant is located in a very pretty little arcade. We really enjoyed the complimentary mini lemonade as you came in and the food arrived promptly and accurately. A star is lost because a beef Ragu was served with only a tablespoon of beef but after sending back it came completely loaded with meat as expected with a ragu. The staff were incredibly sweet about this blunder and it was sorted promptly.

The desserts were absolutely delicious, I particularly recommend the dolce desert as you get three mini desserts for the price of one larger one allowing you to try a variety and the portion sizes aren’t insanely small as you feel you’ve had a decent portion of as well.

It was a lovely family meal. If you’re a Tesco Clubcard voucher user, I would always pick ask over the other Italian restaurant chains available. I also offer a shout out to the cheapest drink on the menu, they’re delicious...
