I've wanted to visit the Bunch of Grapes for dinner for a while, now. I have previously been here for a real ale and lunch, and it impressed me, so I was determined to try out the main menu.

I visited with my partner on a Wednesday evening after pre-booking a table for 19:00. We arrived 15 minutes early but were promptly seated and offered drinks, to which I ordered the Buwch Goch Gota Red Ale which I thoroughly enjoyed and my girlfriend ordered the Madri excepcional which was also delicious.

We ordered olives (which were the best olives I have ever tasted) and the smoked duck breast starter. The duck breast was beautifully presented and utterly delicious, although the kind of small portion you should expect from a fine-dining establishment. An ideal appetiser to warm up for our mains, which for my girlfriend was the Pastrami sandwich, which we agreed was amazing and that the chips were fantastic. I ordered the 12oz Coffee-rubbed Rump steak, which was cooked to perfection and utterly delicious, and went very well with the rosemary-cooked onion with which it was served.

As sides we had chicken wings which were above and beyond any wings I've had before, in a truly divine sauce, and Pork Belly burnt ends, which may have been the highlight and the most tasty thing we ordered, in an almost obscenely sticky, sweet, dark blood-red sauce, which was used up on those amazing chips once the burnt ends had been fought over to completion.

I consider my evening at The Bunch of Grapes to be the best meal I've had at a restaurant in as long as I can remember and I offer my highest compliments to the extremely talented Chefs that put true passion and art into their work. Service was very good and very well timed. I will be visiting again and again and cannot recommend enough to...

The food was INCREDIBLE! Finally managed to get out for a meal after months of meaning to.

Considering, when I first visited, the chefs were making food out of a burger van out the back yard- and it was by far the tastiest looking paper plates I'd ever seen. Now they've got a big, beautiful, new kitchen... and you can taste it! Excellent food with unexpected flavour combinations that work incredibly well together.

Little more expensive for the fancier plates - meats etc. but well worth it.

Personally I'm not into craft ales, but I am a veteran bartender so I can vouch that these guys know their stuff. All sorts of flavours and infusions, with new ones every week or so! Plus, the fact that it's brewed out the back and you might even get chance to have a chat with the brewer, just makes it even cooler!

Love the new restaurant & bar area, looks absolutely lush. The silence in the restaurant is a little... intimidating... But other than that it literally could not have been better. Service was impeccable, very friendly and accommodating.

Maybe if we'd have stayed for a few Bev's afterwards we could've made the most, caught up with the friendly patrons and possibly said hi to some doggos in the bar, sadly it was a school night and we'd blown the 'date night' budget.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a flavourful meal or beer in Pontypridd, very much looking forward...

We went for Sunday lunch so we were expecting a relaxed visit. We felt pressured to take our seat and the waitress hurried us to take our order!! We asked for two beef dinners medium rare with only roasts potatoes no boiled plus veg. The dinners arrived and were only like warm 👎🏽 My beef was rare and full of sinue I asked the waiter where the roast potatoes and horseradish was ( I had already asked another girl) and the waiter said they were under the beef.... I found one small cold roast potatoe. I asked if we could have some more as our places were only half full. The roast potatos artived ( 5 in a bowl ) these were the hottest things on our plates. I asked yet again for horseradish and salt and pepper But was told that they were out of horseradish as they had been rationing it all day !! Surely if you are offering beef as a Sunday dish you would make sure you have the condiments to go with it? I told the waiter our food was cold and he said he would get some hot gravy! By this time I had lost my appetite as I was eating cold food and had mouth full of fatty beef. The waitress took our plates, mine was still full However she didn't say a word or ask how our food was? Overpriced for what is was and I don't mind paying for good quality food. Very disappointing. Please invest in staff that care and are more aware, attentive and just ask if everything is ok...

Don't bother! Went here for lunch and there were tradesmen in doing work which was very loud and painful on my ears (grinding, drilling noises at high pitch). This was unbearable at points and in fairness the staff member did keep saying it should reduce but it didn't throughout our meal. I'd heard excellent things about this place and was looking forward to it. What a disappointment! Food came on cardboard with cardboard cutlery which was disappointing. If you're going to charge £14 for a burger in Ponty, at least put it on a plate! Lamb was very tough and fatty and was served alongside 10 chips. Really poor size portions and bun was too firm also. Trying to cut into a lamb steak with a wooden knife was no fun. There was a dead fly on my table also. As we were not checked upon during the meal, I spoke with a staff member who was apologetic but I felt like he didn't really care. Glad to be out of the place, a really disappointing experience.

Fantastic little place up on a side road in Pontypridd. Well worth scouting out if you're a cider aficionado or a fan of micro brewery ales. They stock many of the delicious Gwynt Y Draig ciders on tap, (the Gwynt Y Draig farm being just up the road from here), and lots of crazy Welsh beers. When I stopped there just last week they had a local beer on at the heroic strength of 9.2%. Generally friendly crowd, with a 2nd hand book section toward the rear of the pub. Free parking but only a small outside area which gets very busy. Oh! It's also dog friendly too. Highly recommended
