We've been to The Cinnamon Tree a couple of times now, and although the food is good it's unlikely we'll be returning. Unfortunately it is very expensive for the portion size, and combined with the slow service we left feeling a little underwhelmed.
We waited for a while for our order to be taken with staff walking past us multiple times, and when we caught the waitress's attention and asked if we could order we were told to wait as someone who arrived before us should order first.
We had one of the mixed starters and for £13 we only received 8 pieces, with each piece being very small. My curry was flavourful, but only had small pieces of low quality chicken. It was served in a plain bowl with no extra garnish and looked distinctly disappointing for the £13.95 price, especially when compared to the other curry which came in a nice copper bowl with a lot more chicken.
The size of the sides were also very small, and we would have expected more rice for the £4.25 pricetag. We were also charged £3.50 for a pint of orange squash.
Our naan bread was also forgotten to begin with and we were assured it was coming but after 10 minutes we had to chase it up. It was very good when we received it, but by that time we had eaten most of the curries, even when pausing to wait for 5 minutes.
Overall the service was very slow and although the food was tasty the presentation and portion size did not make it worth price which was just shy of £60. Overall you can get better food and more attentive dining...
Read moreI have known about this restaurant for quite a while and thought tonight would be the night to go and try it out. Getting a table was great and quick even without booking. Drinks were ordered and were brought quite quickly. After a few minutes we ordered our starters and mains the starters came out and they were really nice but could have done with a bit more on the mixed tandoori. After this my partner ordered another drink. We had to remind them about this order as it took ages the first time my partner ordered a drink. The first time the mains arrived the server had got them wrong and they were for another table. Once our mains had arrived we started tucking into them. I had a Kolopuri Lamb and my partner had a Makhani Chicken. The Kolopuri Lamb was very chewy and the sauce was very much over spiced with green chillies. There was no flavour except for the chillies. My partner has also said that her Makhani Chicken was very bland and lacked in flavour. Overall the meals we had were not very good compared to other indian restaurants we have visited. The service was OK but the first bill we received after asking for it three times was actually a wrong bill. The bill that was then the right bill was more expensive so we should have kept the original one but hey we are honest citizens. Needless to say we will not be visiting the Cinnamon...
Read moreI've now had two meals delivered from Cinnamon, and I have to say both were absolutely exceptional! I'm a HUGE fan of Indian food - I cook it myself, and even spent two weeks in India last month where I ate Indian food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I know what good authentic Indian food should taste like, and frankly many Indian restaurants in the Rhondda are pretty average. I've been searching for a restaurant that can produce curries with real flavour and spice, and using quality ingredients (particularly chicken/lamb). Without a doubt, Cinnamon hits and exceeds all of my expectations! I've had several different dishes, from the stunning Garlic Chilli Chicken, Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Dansak to a mild Makhani that my partner had. All were absolutely delicious - full of flavour, and the chicken was so tender. None of that rubbery reheated chicken that lesser restaurants use to cut costs. I also must mention what happened on my last order. RCT Eats were offering 25 percent off the bill but the app didn't show the discount. I called the restaurant and they said they would give me the discount in cash. I ordered, and the very friendly driver handed me the cash with my meal - just brilliant...
