My girlfriend and I had an abysmal experience with the click and collect service at this branch. Turned up on time to collect the food at 15:00 as scheduled on the online order, food was seen under the heat lamps not bagged up ready to go. Staff then opened the boxes in front of me to double check the order, when this should have realistically been done prior to me collecting the food. I thought this was quite unprofessional and unorganised. It was a 3 minute walk home from the restaurant, but upon unboxing the food it was stone cold and thrown in the boxes (or so it had seemed). I've had average chinese and kebab takeaways presented better than what we received here. The sauces were all over the food, were congealed/inedible from presumably being sat under the heat lamp for a long period of time and not potted up individually just dolloped into the cardboard boxes. The lemons and lime were dried out completely and shriveled up alluding to the large amount of time spent under the heat lamps. The food had to be heated up before consumption, which didn't help with the dryness of the food, but it was heat it up or throw it away. I think considering the state of the food, it was clearly sat under the heat lamps for a while prior to the scheduled pickup. In future, the presentation needs to be completely reworked for the click and collect, especially as you are paying the same as restaurant prices. For the prices that you pay you get very small portions, so the takeaway option doesn't seem to be worth it. Prior to this experience, I would have recommended this restaurant to my friends as I have done based off my previous experiences of eating in, but I definitely will not be recommending the click and collect service. Quite honestly, I wanted to walk back and return the food, however considering the lack of care that had gone into the food and service I didn't think there would be any care or consideration given if we went back with the food to...
Read moreWe rarely go out to eat at a restaurant as it becomes very stressful even finding a place that does gluten free options. We had found this on the internet before hand and thought it was worth a go. We walked in to this place, and immediately felt a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Our server was very polite and efficient and before showing us to a table, she asked if either of us had any allergies. I told her I am gluten free, to which this was no trouble and gave me an entire dedicated gluten free menu! This in itself is amazing! We sat down, with our two dogs, and was shown where all the doggie treats and water bowls were available if we needed them for our pets! This is also quite the rarity! So we chose what we wanted, and went to the bar (if allergies, advised to order at the bar directly) now I understand why. Not only were the staff very savvy regarding allergies and gluten free, they went above and beyond and asked if it I was celiac disease ( as apposed to Gluten free which not many places or staff are aware is very different) I confirmed it is because I am celiac, and the server then attached a bright coloured marker on our order and went to the chef directly to tell them it was a celiac order! In all my years, I have never been asked if I am celiac, and there does not seem to be many places keyed up, so I was bowled over! For those that don’t know, this is especially important as not only does the food need to be free from gluten, it has to be prepared separately and not cross contaminated with gluten food. To say I felt happy, and not have that feeling of dread, by playing gluten roulette is an understatement! We were on a short break away, so did not fancy spending any time on the sidelines due to being glutened. I ordered the steak frites, and the other half ordered a Smokey joe burger. The food was top notch and this place is a real gem of a find! If you haven’t...
Read moreOrdered the banana biscoff cake and an americano and latte, the cake was nice unfortunately the americano was tepid, they also refused to fill out babies bottle with hot water claiming it's against company policy to give out anything hotter than tap water. Which is ironic as they serve tea and coffee so that's clearly a misinterpretation of a rule. Also no one even came over to the table until the drinks were ordered, he said he would check with the manager about the water and just never came back. There were 3-4 tables to serve so being busy definitely was not the reason. We go to the Sorbo lounge(same menu, company , aesthetics etc) in chesterfield often and we get greeted at the door, we get people come and check on us and take orders, and is overall a much better service, they do baby meet up groups and are far more accommodating with children. We were very disappointed to come to a chain of them and have them basically offer a much worse service. It is dog friendly though and they have a nice dog station with water bowls water and treats.
EDIT for reply: hi there, I appreciate not giving boiling water in open containers, this wasn't going to be an open container but a closed bottle, but beside that I was also offered absolutely no alternative and when I asked what I could do to get hot water as my babies bottle needed doing it was met with being told again it's just policy. It's fine if that's the policy, just could've been better service to help remedy the issue which seemed...
