Read moreReally, one of the poorest branches of this chain I've visited felt like a grimey old weatherspoon's pub.
We entered the cafe, struggled to find a table on the ground floor, no lift to access upper level. As we looked around, some customers left, and we were able to use their table.
We moved their empty mugs, etc. I then cleaned the table with baby wipes. If the dirt on the wipes was anything to go by, then the table hadn't been wiped down for a while.
All while i did this, two staff members were serving and taking along time to serve, 3 customers in front of my partner. She'd also been to the toilet and said the facilities had run out of Hand Soap and tissue paper. 😳
We were eventually served, about 20 minutes after entering and ordered our drinks and snacks.
Drinks and food were the usual expected standards, and service was average at best.
One final point was one female staff member serving on the till while we were at our table had issues with a customers payment, she'd tried to appease the customer to her credit but then i could hear her saying 'this effing app' to her colleague, all within earshot of our young children. If i had to hazard a guess, I've said this lady was the manager or shift...

Downstairs was rammed so we headed upstairs, as a group of 6 we were disappointed to see all but one were set up for 2-4 people max, and most clientele here were students on laptops. The one proper 4 seater was covered in used cups and plates on trays and cleaning bowls and sprays, however I found 2 additional seats, pulled them to the table and hoped some staff would appear to continue clearing the table. They didn't, so I moved them myself to some nearby vacant 2 seater tables, before fetching our coffee. We enjoyed our coffee and cakes - the children really loved their Halloween gingerbread skeletons. There was only one toilet available/working, the disabled/baby change downstairs. The soap dispenser was empty but fortunately we had some hand sanitiser on us. I never saw any other staff to mention it to, and I never saw anyone come upstairs either so the trays were all still there when we left. A nice place let down by possibly not enough staff (in their defence, all the staff I did see were really busy at the never ending queue...
