One of the very few restaurants on the seafront at Aberystwyth, so it was extremely busy on the Bank Holiday Saturday of our visit. The restaurant is on the ground floor of a very modern building and the decor reflects this - glass and wood with big picture windows across from the busy promenade. The food is predominantly Italian and the atmosphere lively and buzzing. As this was our very first vist to the town, unfortunately for us, we were not aware that we needed to make a reservation. The staff member who removed us from the table was very pleasant and offered us the chance to eat at the high bar instead, which we declined as it was packed with customers enjoying their drinks. After checking with the manager, the waitress informed us we could have a reserved table for an hour if we chose to order a quick meal. We gratefully accepted and ordered pizza which was freshly prepared and cooked.(We were able to see this from our table) The base was very light and the pulled pork topping was excellent as was the duck pasta dish my husband chose. We were clear of the table in 45 mins. Perfect for us to continue along the promenade for an evening stroll. I would definitely return if we are in Aberystwyth again. TIP make a reservation if you intend to vist this restaurant. NB my husband is allergic to most of the spices in dishes of other cultures and we couldn't face chips again, hence our gratitude to the young waitress who rescued us from what could have been a miserable and...

Not at all impressed with the Pizza or salad, and service for that matter. The Salami Pizza was a wafer thin base that looked like it had been it had been cooked in a biscuit tin with all of the base edges pointing up. The whole Pizza had SIX slices or mozzarella and SIX slices of salami, (of a about 1inch diameter). This on a tomato covering and a handful of anchovies. This gave one mozzarella disc and one Salami per slice on a paper thin Pizza! A feta salad is normally a rocket base, feta and other bits of tomatoes etc. This salad was big chuncks of feta and tomatoes with small diamond cuts of rocket. This coupled with 3 phone calls from the restaurant phone number, that I was sitting in just after we had placed an order. The first 2 were silent calls, the last one was asking if I was going to attend the reservation I had made? (They had not marked my entry, even though they took us to a seat and order had been taken). I saw a similar style Pizza on next tables order and I come to the conclusion that this is the standard for Baravin. At no time were we asked if our order was OK. The meagre Pizza, the poor quality Salad and poor quality service just made pay the...

Came here for Valentine’s Day. We had originally booked for 19:45, but received a call at 19:00 informing us that our space at the bar was ready early, and that we could come any time. The restaurant has a peaceful feel, but not so much that you can’t talk at a normal volume. My girlfriend, who struggles with sensory issues and hearing loss was also happy with the atmosphere. It was not busy when we were there, which was surprising given the occasion. We were provided with a complimentary bottle of tap water on arrival, which was a nice welcome. Service was excellent, prompt and professional. I had a cheeseburger with bacon for my main. Chips were perfect and the burger was cooked well, and did not make the bun soggy at all. For dessert, I had the chocolate brownie with ice cream. It was served extremely quickly, and was delicious. Extremely impressive and will definitely...

Whenever I feel a faint gleam of hope that tomorrow will bring once more the toothsome semblance of an as unyet fulfilled chance to enjoy prandial delection I say ‘Forthwith forthwith’ but yet a sudden rush of as if barely glimpsed the edges of reality. Or as Stephen Spender once said ‘ The hedges of drear- ’!! I write this as an appreciation of the staff of Baravin for allowing our small but earnest troop of amateur players to put on an impromptu performance of ‘The Crazy Gang, professional footballing at Wimbledon football club’ The audience of happy revellers looked up from their shimmering pizzas and sombre steaks in apt appreciation Wonderous days
