The Aberystwyth Cliff Railway is an iconic attraction that offers a memorable experience for visitors to this charming Welsh town. This historic funicular railway, operating since 1896, provides a scenic and leisurely journey up Constitution Hill, revealing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

The ride itself is a delightful experience. The carriages are well-maintained and comfortable, and the gentle ascent offers panoramic views of Aberystwyth, the seafront, and the sweeping Cardigan Bay. It's a perfect opportunity to snap some stunning photos and appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

At the top of Constitution Hill, the views are truly spectacular. On a clear day, you can see as far as the mountains of Snowdonia and the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire. The viewing platform and the camera obscura add to the experience, offering unique perspectives of the landscape. The cliff top also features a charming cafe, where you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea or a light snack while soaking in the views.

However, it's worth noting that the railway can get quite busy during peak tourist seasons, so there might be a bit of a wait, but the ride and the views at the top are well worth it. Additionally, the facilities at the top, including the cafe, are somewhat basic but adequate for a short visit.

Overall, the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway is a must-visit attraction. It combines a sense of historical charm with the natural beauty of the Welsh coast, making it a highlight of any trip to Aberystwyth. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply looking for a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, the cliff railway offers a unique and...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Aberystwyth Cliff Railway is an absolute gem and well worth a visit! The climb itself is rather short but extremely steep, so the railway is both a scenic and practical way to the top. It’s also incredibly dog friendly — from the beach at the bottom all the way up to the summit. Our bullmastiff, Casper, was welcomed with open arms everywhere we went. At the café on the top, the staff brought him a bowl of iced water without me even asking — a big PLUS in my book! They also offer doggy ice cream, which is such a thoughtful touch, alongside people’s ice cream that’s creamy, fresh, and absolutely delicious.

The staff were fantastic — genuinely friendly, kind, and clearly fond of dogs. It made the whole experience that much warmer. Once at the top, the view is stunning and stretches far over the bay and surrounding countryside — a perfect spot for photos. There’s plenty to do as well: mini golf outside, ten-pin bowling inside, and the fascinating camera obscura (housed in the same building as the gift shop).

A visit here offers a mix of relaxation, activities, and spectacular scenery. Highly recommended for dog owners, families, and anyone wanting a memorable...

Loved it! We were lucky enough to get a parking space outside the entrance. There are not many spaces and the rest park on streets leading up to it. We took our dog on no problem and no charge. It's a great view going up, you can stand on the end for the best view or sit inside further back, still a great view. There is a little gap between the carriage and the platform and some big steps that might be a little awkward for disabled people to navigate. At the top is a brilliant view, you can rest at a nice cafe or walk a little bit up to a gift shop, viewing tower and Frisbee game thing. There is also a little bowling alley near the cafe. We were lucky enough to see 4 RAF planes circle across the mountains and the sea whilst we were up there. The food from the cafe was lovely, easy to order from an app too. You can walk down or like us just get a return ticket (£6.50 each Adult) and go to the train when you are ready, we didn't wait more than a couple minutes to go up or down. I would highly recommend a visit here. It just might be worth using the park and ride if you want to visit the rest of Aberystwyth whilst you're there, parking after we went here was impossible on...
