We decided to come here for lunch as a party of 7 (4 adults, 1 infant, and 2 kids under 5). The atmosphere was pleasant and there was lots of seating including outdoors with a view of the castle. We were seated promptly by the general manager who was initially welcoming. Our server took our order fairly shortly after and we ordered appetizers, a Limon carafe for the adults and a burger for the 2 kids under 5. We enjoyed our beverages and talked while we waited for our appetizers. It took about 30 minutes for the appetizers to arrive which, while the restaurant was busy, seemed excessive. Our choices, seabass tacos and the crab nachos were tasty though the nacho portion was small. We finished, then waited another 30-45 minutes for our mains which was very excessive especially with young children who can be antsy. All four adults were unhappy with the delay in the food service and communicated this with the floor manager and the bartender who alerted the general manager. The general manager was very defensive, argumentative and tried to blame our dissatisfaction on our children which was ridiculous. She claimed that a party of our size (really just 4 adult mains and 1 kids meal) should expect to be seated for 2.5 hours which was quite unrealistic for the lunch hour. She also claimed that in England this is typical (my sister and husband live here. It's not). She then claimed no one else was upset with the length of time for food delivery (there were other tables that experienced similar lengthy waits for mains and complained within earshot of our party). This is the worst example of a general manager I have experienced and was dismayed with her lack of empathy or understanding. The food was good. The service deplorable. On top of it all she yelled at us as we left the restaurant telling us "never...
Read moreThe restaurant is at a really nice location. It is apparently Drew Pritchard from Salvage Hunters place. Shilpa and Charlie looked after us and they were both amazing.
We ordered two main courses and a side to share. The first one was the tacos (3 tacos in main and 2 in starter). The fish was lovely and really well cooked, but I feel like there was so much stuff in the tacos, you couldn’t really taste it. The sauces in it were delicious. Overall it was nice, but I wouldn’t order it again.
Our other main was mussels. I love mussels so I was so very excited for it. The portion itself was generous. The sauce was very well prepared; you could taste the chef was not shy of ingredients. But these were the first mussels I’ve ever had to have sand and pearls in it! At first, I didn’t understand what it was. Lucky not have broken any tooth! Then, I got excited to have found a relatively pearl in my mussel like a child. But when you continue eating and almost every single mussel has either pearl or sand, it’s not a very good experience. I don’t blame the restaurant or the chef. Welsh beaches are quite sandy so that’s very normal. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I’d like to even though they were very fresh.
We ordered some chips as a side. I won’t lie they were quite expensive for the amount we got. It wasn’t very nice to pay London prices in Wales.
We then ordered tiramisu and rhubarb meringue. Tiramisu was delicious and very fresh. I loved it. If I wasn’t full, I would’ve ordered another one! The rhubarb one was very tasty too, but it could use a bit more rhubarb in it.
Overall, very nice experience. I would definitely go back to try their other food when I am...
Read moreCalled in on a busy Tuesday evening and managed to get a table for two upstairs. Loved the locally made Welsh weave on the seating. Great, colourful impact but also very special as I believe it's locally made. Quickly chose drinks and two pizzas 🍕 but had to wait for what seemed forever for the pizzas and also to pay for the bill. The waitress who brought the drinks was super friendly, efficient and very observant. Sadly, the pizzas were brought to us by a possibly new member of staff who just gave us the pizzas and quickly shot off!!!😯 (We were both wanting another drink and some fresh pepper for the pizza.) The efficient waitress quickly swooped in with the pizza slice for us (I wish the pizzas had already been sliced up as it was difficult to slice on a normal plate with upturned edges) and sorted us out. Anyway, the pizza was DELICIOUS!!! Not too hot, (even though it had fresh chilli 🌶️ slices, spicy beef mince, chorizo and salami) and very tasty, with superbly doughy base. I was a bit horrified to see the main waiter, prior to bringing our jug of water over, stick his fingers inside to fish out lemon slices 😳😳😳(suddenly realising I was potentially looking over so then switched, more hygienically, to a pair of tongues!!!). Perhaps avoid doing that in the restaurant on future🫣 My husband had been dying to bring me here since Dylan's opened in Conwy (we both absolutely love the Menai Bridge branch) but sadly I found the service so unbearably slow, even though it was only the main area by the patio doors which was full, the other areas just had a few diners. The food, however, I have to say, was faultless😊 and the staff were very friendly...
