I have been to this Restaurant numerous times now and I cannot write a review that would do it justice. The food is simply beautiful and the service is second to none!!!

My favourite food has always been Indian and when a friend suggested we try Gurkha Corner I was a little hesitant as it is Nepalese but I am so glad I went along with it - in my opinion the food is Nepalese-Indian fusion and I have not been back to an Indian Restaurant since coming here - the curries are stunning, authentic and piping hot. My personal favourite is Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi - best I've ever had! What I also love about this place is that nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I love Keema Rice which isn't on the menu but I asked if they could provide some and they have on every visit I've made there.

The staff are so friendly and professional - as I have now been many times they know my choice of Wine and I no longer have to ask for a drink - for me that is quality service with a personal touch. They also always have a smile on their face and seem genuinely pleased to see their guests which doesn't seem to be a common thing these days.

I live in Brynmawr but work in Crickhowell, I finish work at 4PM but will wait around in Abergavenny for an hour and a half for the Restaurant to open - it's that good!!!

I have introduced over 10 family members / friends to this Restaurant since my first visit and every one has loved it with many of those returning with either myself or other friends. I have never had a take-away from here so I cannot comment on this but my preference is always to dine in - it's part of the experience and I cannot recommend this Restaurant highly enough.

Keep up the good work guys, you're doing an...

So, I seldom give a bad review as sometimes things well just don't go according to plan and I have a certain amount of empathy with the restaurant industry. Our 1st visit was just over a year ago which was a complete disaster. Table for 4 with friends from out of town. 1.45 hours for our food to start coming to 2.15 hours for 3rd dish to arrive 4th dish never came. Over booked under staffed and still seating customers. Roll on 15 months I called for a take away, which came to around £25.50 plus booking fee according to their website. Turned up not ready, no problem happy to grab a beer and wait. Brown bag appeared within 10 minutes, happy days can I pay please. Yes it's £26.50 but the beers on the house for the wait. That's very kind thank you. Got home and the order is incomplete missing onion Pakora. I called and the chap said sorry come and collect oh wait my manager wants to speak what followed was a raised bullying voice telling me what I ordered and was wrong wrong wrong it's my mistake and I'm a liar although he conceded he charged me £26.50. Well here's the costs on your website you arrogant man. I shall call tomorrow for the the over charge. The food unfortunately wasnt great, whilst the rice and nan were very nice the curry was just prawn and tasteless orange water very bland with...

Was really looking forward to this meal but left disappointed. Felt rushed from the time we arrived, booked early evening 5.30 to avoid busier times, only 1 other couple there when we arrived, so can’t see what the hurry was. Given menus and asked to order almost immediately, had to ask for drinks so we could at least read the menu, still ended up ordering in haste so didn’t order sides and went with a complete dish to avoid further pondering.

Once the meal was served the service disappeared completely!

The meal itself was flavourful but the prawn starter in a crust still had shell underneath, which wasn’t pleasant. Would have ordered dessert and more drinks but the wait for service was so long we just asked for the bill which still took an eternity. Service poor, napkins taken away had to ask for some. The restaurant did get busier so understand the staff were under pressure with a restaurant and takeaway operating.

Atmosphere was pretty flat, some low music may have drowned out the constantly ringing phone and alarms. The restaurant itself was in need of a good cleaning and decorating but the tableware was spotless.

Probably wouldn’t...

We visited on a Tuesday at about 6pm, when the restaurant was quiet, and had one of the most enjoyable, relaxing meals that we can remember - and certainly the best curry that we’ve been out for. Neither me nor my wife had tried Nepalese cuisine before, and despite her being a fussy eater, the close-to-familiarity of the Indian offerings was enough to bridge the gap for her. Meanwhile, I went for my first-ever fish curry, which was superb. Also highly recommended by me is the mango lassi - a creamy, fruity cocktail-like yoghurt drink, which I can’t wait to have again. The waiting staff were superb - not pushy, polite and knowing when to approach the table and helpfully offering advice on menu items. The combination of the food, the service and the serene experience means that we’ll happily make the 1-hour journey from our home in Neath specifically to come for a meal here.
