The actual breakfast tasted great. However the service was appalling! The restaurant was very quiet with plenty of staff and yet we still sat over 30 minutes waiting for someone to come and take our breakfast order. This was only achieved by myself flagging down the waiter as he walked past us once again without any acknowledgement. While taking our order we queried if the fruit juice and hot drinks where refillable and if the unlimited continental was still running as the menu was a bit unclear - we never got an answer about the continental. Once the waiter brought our drinks there was no stirrer or spoon available to stir the milk into our hot drinks so we had to flag someone down yet again. Upon drinking my tea, as i got closer to the bottom i realised that the bottom of the inside of my cup was filthy with what appeared to be old thick coffee. I pointed this out to the waiter and he stated that ‘that looks disgusting’ and he offered to make me another. When our breakfast was delivered we once again had to request cutlery and we also had one of our items missing off the plate which was corrected once pointed out. All in all the breakfast tasted lovely however the service was by far the worst i have ever received. We didn't have any continental breakfast as we are still left unsure if this was in with the price so we have ended up spending £21.94 on two breakfast's that we could of got for under half that price from most other places. I have been a regular customer to Harvester for many years, I will now think twice about ever going again due to the...
Read moreFirst impressions on entering this restaurant is that staff are very unwelcoming. No greeting, no smile on entering. I think these things matter and are polite things to incorporate for front of house. I asked if I could be seated on a seat side by side with my 3 year old and despite there being over 8 empty tables I was told that these tables were booked. These tables remained empty throughout our visit. The waiter who took our order wasn’t very attentive and took our order quickly. He came back with an apple juice for my son and plonked down an empty glass for me and left. Not having visited a Harvester restaurant in over 20 years I realised then the drinks had changed to self-serve. I wandered around the restaurant looking where to fill my glass. Our meals came and my order was wrong. They gave us a side of grated cheese in a bowl for my sons meal, when I had asked for extra cheese on my plant burger. The waiter apologised and asked if I wanted the cheese melted and that this would take a few minutes. I was happy with that so waited. When it came back there was still no cheese on the burger just more of the vegan sauce. I informed the waiter that there was no cheese on my burger. He said he would change my order again and he did smile but by this time I was annoyed at the indifferent attitude and wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I asked them to take the meal back and refund my bill. Definitely wouldn’t recommend visiting Harvester...
Read moreServer was rude and needed to be called over any time we wanted him. We had multiple issues with the meal (needed server just to get a clean salad bowl and he just kept walking past, excessive water coming from the chicken stack, corn on the cob that was cold, mushy, and revolting (if not insultingly bad), and zero remorse for bad food by server. We even got our own napkins from the server stand as we couldn't get the server to bother to check if we needed anything). Additionally, when we were seated, we were given 2 napkins, 2 forks, and 1 knife. Is it that difficult to get the basic silverware for 2 people? We sat for multiple minutes after we finished eating and did not come to clear the plates or ask if we wanted dessert. Overall, very disappointing meal and terrible service. I forgot to also mention a burning motor smell by the salad bar. Is the chiller motor dying or something else causing an an electrical burning smell? I feel bad for the tables around the salad bar. We used to love Harvester and started cooking at home more often, but wanted to start coming back as the unlimited salad was always a favourite. We are not sure what cost saving measures they have added, but if it makes the difference between a good restaurant with slightly higher prices or prices stay the same with lower quality, we would rather pay a few pence more for something we are happy with. Sorry, Harvester.. Tonight's meal was disappointing on...
