this cafe was highly recommended to me, I'm not sure why, my girlfriend and I had a breakfast each, one veggie breakfast and a normal breakfast. First impressions were good, you walk in and the decor is very nice and seems very clean. We picked a table we liked, sat down and waited for a someone to come and take our order and after about ten minutes we figured we would go to the counter and place our order there. there was a person in front of us ordering and the girl behind the counter was less than enthusiastic about being there. after messing the persons order up a couple times it was our turn to be served and the girl just sort of.....disappeared upstairs without saying anything. A couple minutes later an older blonde women came to take our order and she had the same disgruntled look on her face as if to say "do I really have to stand here and talk to you?" I placed my order fine and re-joined my girlfriend, we waited quite a while for our food and on Two occasions they brought the wrong food over. when they eventually got the right order to us it came on on a cutting board and the one rasher, one sausage and ONE egg came in a cast iron frying pan, this looked really nice but it hadn't been used to cook with which meant it was cold, sucking the heat out of the food within. the sausages where cheap the bacon was tough the egg was tasteless and the hash brown may as well have been taken straight out of the freezer on slammed on the chopping board, what an absolute pitiful excuse of food and customer service this cafe offers. oh and my last point i want to mention is, if despite my review you decide you want to try it and gain your own opinion (very commendable) make sure you don't now and wont then, need the toilet. they are outside in the cold and you might as well find a back alley, squat over a drain and go there, it would be a nicer experience and more hygienic for...
Read moreThank you for taking time to read my review. You pay for your food when ordering. I noticed that whilst in the queue, a waitress on her way to a table with 2 portions of what looked like, flat (defrosted cooked fish) a tiny basket of defrosted cooked chips). We paid for 3 ham cheese and pineapple toasties and whilst we were waiting for it to arrive we noticed the people who had got the fish and chips had got children sat on the table opp us. One of them were still waiting for their meal after 10 mins. The Mum mentioned to me that they had decided to come into this cafe so that they did not need to queue at the fish and chip shop at the front which was extremely popular. They were looking forward to eating fresh fish and chips and food for their children but they had to leave the fish and most of the chips. The lasagne which the children had, had no taste. The chicken burger was served on a bun on its own and tasted cheap. Our toasties were not much better as the cheese tasted unusually poor. 2 tiny cube of pineapple on each toasted slice (we paid 30p extra per person for this) The ketchup is a funny weak red colour and cetainly not Heinz ( as some of the bottles were, which had the stuff in). £7.25 for fish and chips £7.25 for lasagne Nearly £5.00 for a toastie The coffee (made with milk) was very weak and tastless. We spoke to a gentleman on our wasmy out and mentioned the red sauce in the Heinz bottle. He stated it had gone that colour xue to it being hot in the kitchen. This cafe is charging maximum for minimum ingredients. It is a shame because they have got you as soon as you order your food. What a let down this cafe is to the paying public. Home cafe needs to get their act together and invest in good ingredients for the people who pay your wages and keep your...
Read moreFood is ok, service is terrible. Wasn't rude or anything like that but we went in was left waiting at the door for a couple minutes until someone came out of the kitchen. Someone comes and give us a menu without asking whether we would like drinks. Comes back over takes food order (and drinks order). Food arrives quickly enough and as I say is ok, not the best but certainly not the worst. After eating, the empty plates and empty glasses were left in front of us for over 50 minutes. The music went silent (presumably the CD came to an end) and it took about half an hour for the lady to notice and put some more on. Someone occasionally popped their head of the kitchen but did not come and clear the plates, ask if we would like more drinks or whether we would like to see the desert menu. Eventually we managed to get the ladies attention when she stuck her head around the corner and we asked for the bill. The bill came out promptly enough but we were left sitting there for another 25 - 30 minutes until she came back out with the card machine. Good job we wern't in a hurry and we had a sense of humour otherwise I would have probably walked out by that point.
Won't be going back but I predict it probably won't be around much...
