Went today and order daal paratha , samosa chaat , karak chai and pink chai. samosa chaat was tasteless , chickpeas were hard instantly gave me tummy ache , samosas were burnt and overall taste was so bad that even pomegranate seasoning failed to save it. felt like i ate 10 spoons of uncooked chickpeas. In daal paratha only good thing was paratha which was "Shana" brand parathas commonly sold in any supermarket, daal was as tasteless and blend with no spices not even salt. bombay sandwich were just alootato mash with boiled shreded chicken with obviously no taste at all they put too much money on creating ambiance but same ambiance destroyed by their poor quality food last but not least chai , chai was as good as anyone from street made it , no taste no aroma nothing. really like the way they wrote "Karak chai"in different languages on ceiling which after tasting their food I only translate "Disappointing". Really disappointing experience, not going...
Read moreUpdate: 26/08/2024 This place is usually our place to go in Cardiff however the service on three occasion throughout august has been terrible. Chilli chicken chips stone cold and very small portions of chicken (just 2 small pieces and all full of onions). The lamb rogan josh and rice had an awful smell and tasted sour. It felt like it was left over food from 3 days ago which was reheated as it came out stone cold too (fridge temperature). They took over 30 minutes to bring the order to the table and we were the only people there so it wasnt busy. I am never going back again. Ive given them 3 chances during august due to past experiences but they have just completely lost me as a loyal customer. Ive noticed a change on the chef so it must be the standards have dropped due to this. We spent over £40 in our previous visit which is very disappointing to get old...
Read moreI’m a big fan of karak chai, desi breakfast and the samosa chat. I usually go to Chaiwalla which is a 5star from me. I thought I’d give this place a try and I was hugely disappointed. The desi breakfast came with a paper thin omelette which was cold and tasteless. The chickpeas where hard and also tasted powdery. The pot was only half full. The best part about it was the roti which was luke warm. The tea has nothing on Chaiwalla. Then the somosa chat was luke warm and comes very small. I walked away still hungry and disappointed. This place need to up its game, only a few doors down from Chaiwalla and in my opinion it has nothing on that place and I won’t be returning. Sorry karak chai it’s a thumbs down for me. Giving a two star as I liked the decor and the lady was very nice. Otherwise...
