Visited today for the first time with my elderly mum. We were taken to a table around 4pm by a barman and told to vacate by 6pm as the tables are booked. Ok 2 hours plenty for us.we Ordered drinks ,half a lager and home made lemonade . I then got some menus off a nearby table . I Told the waitress wel have 2 courses for £13. Mum chose chicken pate to start and hunters chicken for her main. I chose scampi as my main and a desert . We weren’t told by the waitress that these particular meals were not in the offer?? We didn’t eat all our food as we are not big eaters. During the meal we had about 4 different waitresses bringing our food and taking the finished plates away. The waitress who took our order had gone home before we had our meals. About 17.45 I asked for the bill. I was shocked it came to £36. I asked the waitress why it was so expensive but she had to call the manager as I didn’t have a voucher??. I explained wede gone for the 2 course for £13 each ( which is displayed on the menu) but he said I looked at the wrong menu. As we were not given any menus and had to get my own ..I assumed the menu which stated the offer was the one to choose from.( see photo) . The manager was very rude and told me I should have looked at it properly ( that’s disgusting talking to me in that tone)!! I told him it’s very deceiving having an offer on one menu but the offer was for a different menu?? He became very abrupt so I said take the money for whatever the bill was so that I could leave. He stamped away on the till in an aggressive manner . And said hel take £26 plus the drinks cost so £32. Wow he gave me £4 off !! Apparently the waitress who took my order had already gone home so maybe when I gave my order she should have said that the meals we chose were not on the £13 offer. My whole experience was a nightmare and I wouldn’t visit this place again especially the rude manner of customer service from the Manager!! Especially shouting at me infront of...

Read moreThe food was very nice, the best cauliflower buffalo wings I have tasted, and the fries were very nice along with a pleasant atmosphere. The service was nothing short of excellent as the waiting staff were very warm, welcoming, polite and friendly.
The drawbacks, particularly for my first time dining at Mary Dillwyn, were: the menu clearly mentioned that they could do vegan onion rings, but when asked they couldn't do vegan onion rings because of the frier even though they have a frier for the fries to be vegan, and I was then, not puzzled not only over this, but also as to why it is mentioned on the menu; limited vegan desserts, which is fine, but then run out out run out of the vegan apple tart, they explained that they have been busy, but better stock control is needed - they must know that the apple vegan apple tart is popular; there was no alternative milk for coffee so I had my meal without my latte, it was explained that there is not much call for it and they go off, I know it can't be helped but this did set back my dining experience at Mary Dillwyn; the vegan soup was tomato soup, I didn't order this as I had already had a Big Tom drink, nevertheless, I should have prefered something more adventurous such as a festive vegetable winter soup, or just a winter vegetable soup - any vegan soup would be a lot better than a tomato soup - so I dined without a starter as the limitations of the vegan starters.
But I should definitely go back again as most of my dining experience was good, so I will give it...
