We drove through Aberaeron the other day and decided to stop here as it’s a genuinely pretty little town (visit and see). After wandering around we decided to stop for a drink. We were also tempted with cake. The staff here were really friendly and welcoming. When my son was choosing what he wanted, a hot chocolate, the lady serving jumped in and told him about all the different choices he could have. Ignored me and spoke directly with him. I like this. He was advised to have a bueno hot chocolate (pictured) and he loved it. My mocha was ace and the wife’s cappuccino was good too. Cake was good, as it should be! The venue is really nice too. Seating upstate and we were allowed to bring the dog in too. Lots of nostalgic local pictures. But as mentioned earlier, the staff were really friendly, chatting with the customers and making everyone welcome. Great place. Thank you.

Best Café in the town! 1st visit we had the pepperoni pizza & sweet chilli chicken toasted wraps with sweet potato fries (best item on menu), then a couple of lovely cakes. 2nd visit with a larger group we had steak pie, cheese and onion pie, creamy mushrooms on toast and the BBQ pulled pork bun. All great and highly recommend those too. Extremely reasonable prices (£6-10) and a great selection of very nice quality food! Also offer a large selection of takeaway items too (image below).

Really nice atmosphere and staff! Amazing selection of food. I got a tuna melt and it was good and came quickly. The coffee was excellent. Great selection of cakes too and they were very nice. We got the Penderyn white choc tart and Bakewell blondie. Really friendly and lovely staff and a great spot outside to people watch and enjoy the fresh sea air. Really easy to park too. Wonderful spot for lunch!

Not as dog friendly as they make themselves out to be. Arrived with 3 dogs, waited downstairs with other people to be told they were ‘all waiting to be seated’. In fact only one couple were but the 4 staff behind the counter assumed this without checking. When I got upstairs nearly all the tables were empty and I was then told that as there were 2 dogs upstairs already I could not bring my 3 up (as there was a limit of 4 which had not been made clear to me). I was asked if I wanted to ‘wait’ until one of the other dog owners was leaving. I decided to go elsewhere. Disorganised and not focused on customer service. Complacent. Unhelpful. Need to...

Just spent a week away on holiday in Aberaeron and chanced upon McGowan's on our first day. Super friendly staff, lovely food including a good range of choice for vegetarians (including quiches, 'sausage' rolls, soup, baguettes, veggie breakfast, baked potatoes and more!). We had lunch here twice, a couple of take-away coffees and picked up baguettes that were made to order in 5 minutes before we went off for the day walking in the mountains. Outdoor seating at the front opposite the park as well as having seating inside upstairs. So glad...
