Y Popty — Restaurant in Wales

Lovely bakery food and good selection of everything, but the most obnoxious and ignorant shop assistants I've ever come across. They also insist on cash, but it has to be the correct amount or close to it. When I offered a £10 note for goods valued at £3.40 I was told, as if I had just offered her some muck off the floor, "what do you expect me to do with that", not "I'm terribly sorry but we don't have any change" or words to that effect. I ended up having to come out empty handed with no appology. Out of the two serving the short dark haired older lady is the worse. We called into Y Popty today for lunch and was firstly disgusted by the attitude of the woman that served us, she was continually patronising and secondly the food that we purchased was quite frankly disgusting. The coronation chicken bagette was tasteless and the bread as hard as rock. We purchased egg custard tarts and to say they had a soggy bottom is an understatement, they were dripping! We also purchased a cream turnover and when you bit into it the cream was only on the outside, the middle was empty. The pastry was also hard . There is no way that cake was fresh today! This isn’t a proper bakery where they bake their own bread, which disappointed me. It’s prepackaged from a local company and is also sold at the convenience store down the road. I’m sure this place does great hot food (as mentioned in other reviews) but I didn’t try that. I went in at 8.30am on a Saturday and the cake counter was almost empty and the pasties still cooking.
