Friday 27th June, for 7:30 booking. We were a party of 8 adults, with 2 of us celebrating a Birthday. No 1, starters was very poor and tasteless. 2 persons had the Spring Rolls, which were very small with no taste at all, the duck filling was lacking in any particular taste and very sparse. Others that had starters said it was just ok, and very underwhelming. No 2, two had the beef and Guinness pie which was a very small potion and shallow ( more of a child’s portion) and again lacking in taste and flavour. We asked at ordering, if we could have extra gravy….. it was brought out in a small Pyrex measuring jug, and to be honest and in my opinion made from a tub of gravy granules. Very disappointing. The fish pie had by 4 customers were very dissapointing being quite dry, and a portion of green beans on the plate which was unedible. Aldente would have been acceptable but these were practically raw, every one left them. I could go on regarding the desserts, but I will leave it at that. Unfortunately every one was very dissapointed with their food and evening. We had previously visited the old restaurant many times, and had never had a bad meal. But we felt very underwhelmed, felt it was definitely not up to Chef standards sadly, and if we are honest couldn’t believe that this food which was served to us, was actually the original Chef. Maybe it wasn’t!!!! It was a very dissapointing meal, and the 8 of us will not be returning. Our bill was £346, which was a total waste of money. The reviews shown, are mostly of 5=stars, so we can only come to the conclusion that something was very much off in the kitchen this evening. The one saving grace, they did bring out 2 plates for the Birthday couple with a chocolate written Birthday greeting on the plate, with 2 macaroons with 2 pieces of fudge. Thank you for that, it was very...
Read moreI have struggled deciding whether to leave this but feel that ultimately I should because it is only the truth.. We have eaten in this restaurant on at least 10 occasions & always been extremely happy with the food & service. However 2 weeks ago we decided to treat ourselves as we had received some great news that deserved celebrating. We were so disappointed! The food was not up to its usual standard at all.. We both had the cheese soufflé to start & it was dry & hollow like an overcooked Yorkshire pudding, only saved by the separate sauce that came with it in a jug. That on its own we could have forgiven but our mains were just as disappointing. I had the salmon & my husband had the pork belly, both were again disappointing. The salmon was dry & unimaginative & so was the pork. I could cook better myself & when we eat out we expect as good as or better than we can eat at home. We intended to have the 3 courses when we booked but we stopped at 2 to avoid further disappointment. When the waitress came to collect the plates & asked was everything ok I was completely honest. I started by saying I’m not saying this because I want a free meal, we were genuinely disappointed tonight, the food lacked love & passion. I explained that we had eaten there many times & always been extremely happy prior to this. I explained how the food was dry & not up to their usual standard. The waitress said she would talk to the boss. We waited & we waited & NOTHING. In the end I had to call her over & ask for the bill. We were hoping that the chef would come out so that we could say everything I have written here but not once were we offered an explanation or an apology. We paid the bill in full & left & sad to say we will not be returning.. Prior to this I can honestly say this was our favourite restaurant & we have...
Read moreThought we give this a try as we've always gone to Y Seler. Food was good and looked nice but haven't wowed us - Really liked the lamb main but starter and dessert was just okay. After our mains, I headed to the disabled toilet, hoping to change my baby's nappy.. but couldn't find one so i then asked the waitor for a place to change my baby's nappy. He looked displaced and replied there's no nappy changing in the venue. There was some sofas by the entrance and female toilet and there was no one around so I asked if I could change him very quick on there. He replied rudely and said its not up to him and he will go and ask the owner. We don't expect them to come back and say yes at this point to be honest. He returned and said no (as expected), then said we can change him on the floor in the disabled toilet. I'm not being funny but is there anyone out there who thinks its okay to lie the baby down on the floor of any toilet to change the baby's nappy?! I replied "No, we are not changing him on the floor of the disabled toilet!" - and he just went 🤷♂️. What is wrong with this restaurant?! Absolutely ridiculous! Overall.....
