This was recommended to me so I thought we would try. Lovely looking place, you can tell money has been spent on it. We sat outside , seating area was a little disappointing, very flimsy tables felt dirty when I ran my hand across them😔 the floor of the outside seating area had rubbish blowing around! seating was ok, I think for the sake of a couple more hundred pounds they should invest in making it a bit better. We ordered meat feast pizza, cod ,chips an peas, steak pie, chips an mushy peas. The pizza wasn't overly hot, tasted average, not sure if it was made on the premises, it looked like a pre brought one! Tasted ok, nothing to rave on about. The cod chips an peas was also average I have had worse an had better....the garden peas were disgusting an I had to pay extra for them😲 You could tell they were cheap ones! Also it came with a side of leafy salad...personally I would leave the salad leafs off an put the peas ( proper garden ones or mushy) on the plate as part of the price of the meal instead of charging the extra! The pie was a pukka pie, so nothing special there! There was people smoking in the seating area....always a put off an im a smoker! Staff were friendly, I did ask for ice in my coke twice once when I ordered it an again when it came.....but no ice appeared! The lattes are a little small could do with them a tad bigger, 3 mouthfuls an it was gone😠 tasted lovely though! Would I recommend the new celtic? I would go as far as my inlaws did an say it was out of this world an its spot on, like I said earlier I have had better an worse! It's reasonably priced, so if your looking for just an average chippy with seating then this is the place to go, they do do other meals on the menu, kids meals an plenty of choice for drinks an it serves alcohol also. Conclusion..... go if you want average reasonably priced food. Don't have expectations like I did or you will be...

We have always visited ‘The Celtic’ when in and around Aberaeron and have always been our go-to place to eat food. Since 2019, I feel the quality of food especially in the restaurant has gone downhill, and you don’t get a lot of value for your money. There is always little food on your plate and not much to go with it. The prices are reasonable but the actual food on the plate doesn’t add up. Also, I’d like to speculate that the sausages used in the restaurant are indeed frozen and are not chip-shop quality sausages. Much of the veg for the Sunday dinner is also frozen which is not great considering they charge more than much other places for quality Sunday roasts.

I will comment, however, that the staff are very friendly and attentive as you’d expect for the area. The takeaway chips are much better and don’t taste frozen. However, in recent weeks, I feel the quality of the chips has gone down. Although I do rate this highly as you do get a bit of chips for your money in the takeaway.

When the restaurant was open before Christmas, the staff responded well to COVID measures with the track and trace option compulsory.

If you want better, higher quality and more affordable chips, I would recommend paying a visit to The Lime Crab in New Quay (only 6-7 miles away) or Lloyds in Lampeter (only 13-14 miles away). It pains me to say that the quality of chips has gone downhill as we’ve been frequent visitors for decades, and I believe it’s not just me that feels the same. Other...

The New Celtic has been my first port of call for too many years to count, and I always enjoy going in there, whenever I've been well enough to visit Aberaeron.

This isn't through habit, as tlhere's a decent selection of places to eat in the town, but I go back, as their food and drink selections are great, the service is excellent and, as someone who has difficulty walking, they are always helpful!

I did work there, many years ago, when my child was young, and I was still healthy, but it was different owners, and there's been plenty of changes as the owners keep the place still as comfortable as it used to be, but regularly updated to keep up with modern regulations.

It's a great place to get some really delicious fish and chips, either sitting in the restaurant, or having a takeaway, and they have a nice selection of other traditional foods - but there's also a nice selection of vegetarian food, and the staff are good about dealing with food allergies - as long as you let them know! Lol

It's a great place to sit and look at the harbour while you're...

The 'New' Celtic Restaurant is a place that we have regularly visited for the last 4 decades, during days out, or on our way to Aberystwyth - it's well known to locals and holiday makers alike. First and foremost, The Celtic is a fish & chips restaurant at heart. However, since acquiring the former Monachty Arms in 2020 right next door, the last few years have seen the New Celtic emerge alongside the decidedly up-market Y Seler as a facelifted, gastro fish and chips venue. The upside of the new acquisition is that the fine dining at Y Seler has influenced the menu at the New Celtic. The fish & chips are great, but so are their chicken curries, lasagne and gammon steaks. So cast your eyes on the photos and ask yourself - when is the last time you've seen food served this good at a chippy? Whilst dining in will cost more than the take away, it opens up the option to enjoy a nice alcoholic drink with your food, great desserts along with all the traditional fayre - still at a very reasonable price - offering great value. Win win. 👌👍 Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Aberaeron, next to the harbour. Was desperate for lunch so came to the first place I found after a hike. Table available which was nice as it was a busy lunch hour. Waiters and waitresses all dress up quite nice, tables service. I felt a little underdressed perhaps, I didn't really know the expectation until I walked in. I'd been hiking along the coastal path all morning so my hair was blown, I had ripped jeans and trainers. It's not a dressy restaurant, perhaps a nicer top and smarter shoes would've been better. Looks like it's a popular restaurant for groups, brunches etc. Very nice food, had a chicken burger and chips, can't fault it.

The perfect example of what it means to have a hearty meal that fulfils your hunger and soul. The veggies breakfast was absolutely spot on with freshly prepared , tasty meals . The unique flavour imparted by cheese in the vegetables sausage was a pleasant surprise. Even the tea and tomatoes tasted way better than any other meal I have had . The staff are lovely, patient and enthusiastic. Comfortable seating and warm ambience. Walking distance of all public car parks .a bit of a heads up - fried bread is included as default ( it is Wales after all !) make sure to request alternatives if that is not your thing. Will be back .
