Got a nice iced latte the other day while walking past so came back for an evening meal a few days later. Really nicely modern decorated restaurant. We had really lovely service from the young man who looked after us, but unfortunately the food didn't match up to the service. I got the beef steak burger which was really really dry, and tasted like a frozen burger you get in a rubbish pub. There wasn't much cheese, and what was there was quite overcooked. Not sure if maybe the burger had sat under a heat lamp for some time but that would explain the dry meat? The bun was nice and soft and came with a nice side salad, and although the fries were nice, I found the seasoning on them very spicy. My wife had the chicken burger which was somewhat better than my burger. 4 pieces of fried chicken, half were juicy and soft, and the other pieces were a bit dry in the middle. Her bun was not as fresh as mine and quite hard in places. And as she was taking her last bites she found a bad bit of lettuce in the bun. Not sure how they didn't notice when they put it in as there wasn't that much lettuce in there. I know I could have mentioned all this in the restaurant but we didn't really want to wait for food to be cooked again, and there was no guarantee it would be better the 2nd time round (plus I'm not good with confrontation!) I'd happy come back for a coffee though.

This is a review for dinner. Having been called at 6pm to be left a message that our 19:45 table was being pushed back to 20:15 we were a bit put out to say the least. It left no time to make alternate arrangements. We were told when I called them back we could come in for drinks at our original time which at least meant we weren't having to fill the time somewhere else and in fact when we did turn up at 7:45 they'd clawed the time back and our table was ready. Service was very friendly but patchy (more 3.5 than 3 though), we got the wrong order for one of our dishes (corrected when I raised it) and when we ordered a second bottle of wine rather than the different one we had ordered we got the same as we'd just drunk. It wasn't worth making a fuss as it was a pleasant wine and it was clear the young lad serving us was still getting up to speed in a busy environment. The individual tables themselves are also perhaps a little small for 3 having a tapas style meal as we did find ourselves having to juggle quite a lot, we wouldn't have coped with a pizza! However the food was excellent, quality ingredients, great cooking and presentation. So we will be going back but perhaps give it a few months for the team to get into the groove.

The three restaurants I liked the most in Tywyn was salt and marsh, proper gander and for me personal choice this place was the best, loved the tapas. Maybe eyes were to big for belly, we attended with three kids and two adults, we had the prawns (to die for with bread) crab, pork belly, whitebait, chorizo, spicy fries, crab chicken wings all washed down with a nice glass of merlot. Young waiter who used to work at the cinema was a great young man, attentive, spoke with passion about his town. The place had a great atmosphere and mixture of people which again was great. Pizza did look good, we did order one but it never came, which was lucky because we were all to full with 14 tapas so was deducted from the bill. Keep up the good work, be sure to book in advance

The food was really yummy and we had a really enjoyable night. However, we found the staggering of the tapas a bit too long to wait. We had a party of 7 and each dish would come out sometimes 5 minutes apart from everyone else so you're sat eating on your own (or the other way around and watching everyone else eat). 5 people in our group ordered mussels but they came out randomly at different times. One came out way after everyone else's. I understand the food is cooked fresh and served when ready but they need to find a way to make it work so one table isn't waiting ages for a dish when everyone else in the group is eating. We found the service to be ok-ish but the young lady who occasionally served up, barely spoke or smiled and when she came with the cutlery and napkins, she plonked them down like we were at a school canteen. Two people in group ordered the pork belly which took ages to arrive even when we asked where it was. Although the food is delicious, we felt the dishes were too small for £8 each. The X2 pork belly dishes came out as one dish even though it was for two people and it had less of the trimmings it was supposed to come with. This was sorted when we spoke to the manager when paying and she took it off the bill. We loved the food but we felt they were too busy and couldn't cope, need to sharpen on their customer service and be a tiny bit more generous with some of the portion sizes. Would we go again? Maybe for lunch which was really nice and much better priced but possibly...

Overall I think this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The food itself was very good, the steak burger was lovely and the garlic mushrooms were incredibly tasty! However, despite the staff being very friendly and welcoming when the four of us arrived after booking a table, we waited around 20 minutes to order and by the time our drinks came we had been sat down for just shy of an hour. One of the meals we ordered (goats cheese and rocket pizza) didn’t come with any rocket and when we asked for some they said they would bring it up right away. 20 minutes later we are still waiting for the rocket as well as another whole meal (chicken burger) they assured me would be ‘2 minutes’. We asked about these two again and they said they didn’t write down the chicken burger order and they had no rocket which would have been very useful information when we ordered over an hour and 45 minutes ago. Once again, the food we did receive was very nice. However, all in all, leaving with one person not having eaten any food and another not having received what they ordered it was pretty much a total disaster for a birthday meal out.

I think when they are well staffed and things are running smoothly I can imagine it’s a nice experience. If they had relayed that they were understaffed and that things might take a while when we arrived or even when we booked on the phone this could have been made a little better but unfortunately we arrived expecting a normal dining experience which was far from...
