Still lovely food but unfortunately was disappointed this time
We went on Tuesday afternoon '6th July' had lunch and then cream tea for two. I drink tea but my wife only drinks coffee and same goes for my brother in law and sister in law too. They have always given either tea or coffee with cream teas until this time. They didn't charge each couple the normal £7.95 for two but instead charged one couple at £7.95 and one couple at £11.00 as two people in the group drank coffee!! We was not informed at time they would be doing this as in the past 3 years we have been coming here this is first time they have overcharged in this way. The tea room around the corner only charges £4.50 for one person cream tea with cappuccino/latte so cheaper than £11.00 for two. We also didn't get informed at time that they would be charging extra for some cheese on chilli baked potato as the person taking order just said do you want cheese on top and I thought it must be part of it so said yes then discovered on paying that they charged extra for that too when they should really state that its an extra cost. So people beware of costing so you don't get an unexpected higher bill. As much as we like the cafe we was disappointed in the underhanded tactics...

The homemade quiche looked to die for, and I would definitely try that next time.
We also had room for dessert - only just! Opted for the millionaire shortbread and scone with cream and jam. The shortbread was very rich and tasty, so was shared. The scone was like a giant rock cake and nothing I'd ever seen before! I literally couldn't finish it all but I loved every bite.
I would definitely return and I'm glad that I found it on here as a...
Read moreAlthough to be honest we 3 were the only ones in there at the time -just after opening. Seemed like it is a buzzy kind of place with a number of locals popping in for coffee. Good enough for them so perfect for me! We had breakfast and tea. Sad I had to rush mine down as I could have really savoured it. I doubt the train would have waited tho. Bacon was spot on, sausages meaty and very tasty, mushrooms divine hash brown appeared home made and tasted lovely. Beans are beans and tomatoes are tomatoes.. Certainly set me up for the day till tea time! Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to...
