**"A Truly Unforgettable Dining Experience Thanks to Russell!"** I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Sima Restaurant in Porthmadog, and what made the evening truly special was our fantastic waiter, *Russell*. From the moment we arrived, Russell greeted us with a warm smile and struck up a conversation that immediately made us feel at home. His ability to connect with guests is extraordinary—within minutes, it felt like we were chatting with an old friend. Russell is not only incredibly attentive, but he’s also *entertaining*. He shared fascinating stories about his love for sailing and even mentioned how he once rescued a stranded kayaker off the coast of Porthmadog! His knowledge of local history added a unique flavor to the evening, and his sense of humor kept us laughing throughout the meal. He truly has a gift for brightening the atmosphere. Now, onto the food—wow! The meal was exquisite. From the perfectly cooked lamb to the delicate spices in the curry, every dish was a delight. The portions were generous, and considering the quality, the prices were incredibly reasonable. Russell was spot-on with his recommendations, guiding us through the menu with genuine care, making sure each dish suited our preferences. Russell’s attentiveness didn’t stop with the food—he made sure our drinks were topped up, anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, and ended the meal with a lovely little treat. His combination of professionalism and charisma made this one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. If you’re in Porthmadog, make sure to visit Sima Restaurant, and if you’re lucky enough to have Russell as your waiter, you’re in for an unforgettable evening. **Five stars all the way!**

Very nice and busy Indian restaurant in the centre of Porthmadog. The menu had more variety than your run of the mill Indian places that you can find all over the UK and as a bonus they have a very nuanced spiciness scale to cater all tastes. I ordered the poppadoms and the selection of sauces was quite good. I ordered the lamb Dilruba (just a bit of heat in this dish) and a cheese naan, both of them flavourful. Although the waiter came across as a bit forceful when taking our order, I fully recommend this locale, best Indian place in the area by far!

Well don't know where to start, the head waiter felt sorry for him, no wonder he's got a bad attitude having to do two people's jobs. The food was average to be fair, apart from the mixed tandoori grill and naan breads and chips being served to us cold. Wasn't very happy that the mixed grill on a bed of salad was promptly warmed back up in the microwave instead of a totally new dish being served..sadly to say its your typical seaside curry house.

I find it so strange how so many people are giving this place a 4 star. You clearly have no taste buds or havent been to a good Indian restaurant out of this area. My friends and i went to Sima Tandoori Saturday gone as we were hungry and getting ready to climb Snowdon in the morning. We waited over 40mins as the place was very busy. Thought this place had to be good as the wait was so long. So when we finally got a seat we were met by a waitress who took our drink orders. Only 4 simple drinks to remember but she forgot to bring them over. 20 mins later another waiter came over and asked if we ordered. We said yes and we were still waiting for our drinks. As he dealt with it i asked for 4 straws ......another 10 mins. So now the orders for our food. 4 completely different curries ordered, all the curries tasted the same. No seasoning and very watery. The only thing that tasted nice was the salt on the table. This was an absolute disaster. This place does so well yet the decor is so dated and the space is a joke. The tables must have been from some school kitchen. No napkins or table cloths. When i asked to see the manager i was told he is cooking in the kitchen as the cheff is on holiday!!! So who is actually managing this place? Seriously people pay for this kind of service...wow should come down to London for a day and try some of the restaurants here. Very disappointed...

I have to echo the last reviewer sadly. We were looking forward to eating here after having had a couple of nice meals in the past couple of years. This visit was very disappointing from word go! The waiter could be heard stumbling up the stairs and appeared with our tray of drinks that had tipped over and he proceeded to give our glasses with ice in (for spring water) that were now a rosy shade of red as the cubes had absorbed all my husbands red wine!! I asked for fresh glasses which were snatched up and off the waiter stomped back down the stairs! This waiter appeared to lack any kind of people skills which is kind of required when serving people in a restaurant really! He brought other tables’ poppadoms and drink to our table and forgot our cutlery twice so we were kept waiting with no apology. Upstairs wasn’t particularly busy yet he constantly looked stressed and rushed. I think the fault lies with the owner really...they need to ensure staff are trained in providing customer service. I am astonished that so many places nowadays seem to be incapable of realising that people want some kind of ambience and pleasant experience when eating out...otherwise we can get a take away!! At the end of our meal we asked for our bill and waited...and waited to then be told that we had to go downstairs to the card machine and ‘pay in the way...
