I wouldn't recommend using this shop but feel free to read on the reasons why.
1st visit - Food was really good, fresh of good quality and not skimpy on portions. The service was also fast. There wasn't an atmosphere as you have to queue outside of the shop.
2nd Visit - Today (8/1/24) and a totally different experience. Upon arrival at 735 the shop was busier than last time with around 5 people in the shop. All good as order's are been taken and the food is getting cooked and served or so we and at least 5 people people thought. As when we got to the till at 745 we were told they were closed 5 mins ago even though it said 8pm on the door and theirs people were behind us in the queue. They were also only serving what they had cooked so there's only chips left. The young lady (being kind) told us with youthful attitude (rude). I can see why others also said the same before. It's shocking to see in a place that's already lacking on choice, such service in accepted by the locals as I know local to me it would be shut in no...
Read moreUnfriendly service, ordered a medium and large chips, got 2 mediums. Also ordered a jumbo sausage expecting it to be battered, (as typically where I'm from they are always battered unless stated otherwise) as we opened the box we got a cold, anaemic looking un-battered sausage with piping hot chips dry chips that wouldn't absorb any vinegar. Very bland, disappointing meal. Maybe this was a mistake on our part about the sausage but it wasnt enjoyable regardless. Restaurant area very small and tables were so close together I felt very crowded eating. Only ate in as it was raining. Would avoid if you're English or visiting. Waited all day for a chip shop tea, this place seems like it would deliver but it was very disappointing. Couldnt wait to get out. Would have been nice to be informed that the sausage wasn't battered as I typically expect them to be in chip shops. The only reason we got the sasage was that they didnt have cod on the menu and we felt very rushed at the counter. Staff were impatient and...
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten fish & Chips in many place's over the the last 50 years in UK and elsewhere, and enjoyed some great meals but the Creel fish and chips lunch and follow up supper were the best Cod and chips we have ever had any where . In many fish and chip shops you can have great cod or plaice - haddock etc but the chips are not quite as good !, in others the chips are fantastic but the fish leaves a little to be desired. In the Creel fish and chip shop in Portmadog in North Wales both the fish and the chips were "superb" and a good size helpings, combine this for a price of £16.50 for 2 seperate boxes of cod and chips, and around £20.00 for the same plus 2 very good coffees. It makes me wish we could move to Portmadog to live!. Great fish and chips, Great low price and really nice people looking after you. I can't coment on their other dishes that they offer as we only had the cod and chips. - "WELL...
