The Foxhunter Bar — Restaurant in Wales

We usually love our trips to the angel. Unfortunately this time we were left a little frustrated. The food was excellent, as it always is. However, we ordered (from a senior member of the bar team) two pints of lemonade, assuming this was coming from a tap. However, the bill came and we were charged £18! When we questioned this they explained they have to open two bottles of lemonade for each pint so it works out at £9. This just seems excessive and we were not made aware of this when ordering - we would’ve had a pint of beer instead and it would’ve been cheaper! Went for lunch and left feeling disappointed. What promised to be a cozy pub lunch was not great. Two of us sat on the edge of a long table and it was very draughty. The service was not brilliant - food was slow to arrive and we had to signal over to the bar for drinks to be replenished. Beyond that, it was significantly overpriced for the quality of the food. Just passing through Abergavenny. Decided too stop eat and happened upon The Angel Hotel. So glad we did. The food was absolutely amazing! My husband had the chicken pie and I had the risotto. It's one of my favourite dishes, and the Angels risotto was one of the best I've ever had. Delicious and perfectly seasoned. My husband enjoyed his pie and loved the fresh chips.
