The Beech Tree Inn is a lovley restraunt, close enough to the A48 that it's location is fine. Moreover, there is ample free parking making the logistics easy.
The staff are competent but a few can be slightly unfriendly.
The menu is fantastic including beautiful meat and fish. The menu's fish is incredibly diverse but the meat not quite so much (this is a seafood restaurant!) but the quality is still top notch. The quality continues with the desserts. Finally, the complimentary bread is a nice touch.
The restraunt can be best described as two centre. The vast majority of people will begin with a drink at the bar and only go into the main restraunt after. Views on a two centre location is certianly subjective but for me it makes for more of an evening. Plus, the atmosphere in the bar is jovial not least because of the crowded atmosphere.
Finally, the wine list is very good including a range of wine by the glass but more notably the by-bottle wine is lovley. The pinot grigio bring a personal highlight. The whiskey selection is poorer but fine enough. I can't comment on anything else I'm afraid.
All in all:
Location: 8/10 Building: 10/10 Staff: 6/10 Food: 9/10 Drink selection: 8.5/10 Value...
Read moreIf I could give a 0 I would. We have had, by far, the WORST dining/restaurant experience of our lives today at this inadequate restaurant/bar. My husband, myself and our 2 young boys came for a meal here today with family to celebrate my mother's birthday, only for it to be ruined by a careless, lazy staff member (which whom I didn't catch her name because of how horrified I was at what had just happened) poured boiling hot muscle sauce straight from the kitchen over the top of my 3 year old sons head. A mistake nobody in this profession should ever make and a mistake no parent/child should ever have to go through. Instead of going around the table to pass the plate to my father- she passed it directly over my sons head bearing in mind she also tried to juggle other plates. My husband and I are mortified. It continues with the establishment not even offering a FIRST AID KIT! but instead a dirty ripped tea towel with a few blocks of ice in it. My son was completely traumatised. It's really not worth the trip do not book here. Hopefully if the owner cares enough he will get rid of that careless woman serving food....
Read moreWent to the Beech Tree Inn with my husband and parents-in-law in September. This is a restaurant we visit frequently for family get-togethers. Although the food was acceptable, the service was really very poor. We arrived 10 minutes early for our booking and were asked if we would like a drink in the bar before going to our table. We were ignored for 45 minutes, until finding someone to staff to order drinks from. Throughout the evening the staff were very inattentive and slow, standing around talking to each other. On leaving, I spoke to the woman front-of-house, saying how awful we'd felt the service had been and was surprised by her attitude; instead of apologising and asking why we had felt that, she said "oh really" and walked away. It will be a very long time before we...
