So, what can I say about this venue? For the past five years we’ve been loyal customers, spending our money on food, drinks, and bits for the beach every time we came to Tenby. Up until the afternoon of the 21st of August 2025, this was our go-to spot — somewhere we could sit outside with our three dogs, our 12-year-old child, and enjoy the sunshine together. In fact, we even chose it for part of our 10th wedding anniversary day out.
But let me tell you — that’s where the good ended.
After spending around £50 that afternoon alone on food, drinks, and other items, we were suddenly approached by a young man (who turned out to be the manager) and told we had to move from the table because “the benches are reserved for customers only.” Excuse me? The very same table he was literally clearing their own cups and plates from as he spoke to us. When I challenged this obvious nonsense, he muttered under his breath that if I didn’t like it, I should “go in and see the manager.”
So I did.
Inside, I found the same chap standing behind the counter, now suddenly “the manager.” I pointed out that we had been buying from them all afternoon, so what exactly did he think we were if not customers? His response? Pointing to a sign hidden away on a wall saying the benches are for customers only — as if that magically excused trying to turf us out while we were mid-spend. There were plenty of other empty tables around, so it wasn’t even about space.
When he couldn’t justify himself, a woman who also claimed to be “management” took over. And instead of addressing the issue professionally, she launched into a tirade about her fees, council tax, and business rates — as if that somehow excused treating paying customers like a nuisance. When I pressed her for a straight answer on how we weren’t considered customers after spending £50, she failed to answer, then brushed me off with: “Other customers will see it for what it is.”
Well yes, they will — because here it is, laid out in black and white.
This venue has officially lost a loyal customer of 5 years. On what should have been a special anniversary, we were harassed, disrespected, and made to feel unwelcome by owners who clearly don’t understand the basic rule of hospitality: customers are the single most important asset to any business. In a seasonal, family-run seaside café, you would think that would be obvious.
So, thank you for ruining what should have been a happy milestone for me and my wife. You may have cleared one table, but you’ve also cleared out one more paying family — and from what I’ve seen, we won’t be the last.
Future customers, take this review exactly for what it is: honest, first-hand, and from someone who genuinely supported this business for half a...
Read moreWalked in off the beach expecting very little - Fish and Chips at the beach can be very very average as well as overpriced.
Ended up blown away by both the service and the food.
Had fish and chips with curry sauce and garlic king prawns off the specials. Fantastic fish and chips. Not really sure how to get across how good it was (it's fish and chips 😅) but to make a point - The curry sauce was homemade with lentils, coconut milk and spices. I was fully expecting powdered mayflower which you absoloutely will get with your 15 quid fish and chips right across the south wales coastline.
Also the front of house were lovely. Polite, really attentive aswell. I forgot my sons fruitshoot and when I went back to till a fair bit of a queue had formed. Really appreciated the girl calling me quickly to the other till to take for it knowing I'd just got my food.
Very very good, can't wait...
Read moreFood was ok. Staff appeared nice. Went in for breakfast then, after visiting Caldey Island, returned for some cake.
Staff propped up a heavy wooden board over the part of the notice board. It was propped on a table, and suddenly slipped to the floor in a crash. It narrowly missed a child, who was very upset. The staff/owner merely propped it back up again, in the same place.
I remonstrated with him, and he begrudgingly took it down again. No apology to the family, nothing.
I called him the winner of "This Year's Genius Award," which he didn't appreciate.
But the issue of children's safety went totally over his head. I've every confidence he'll continue to use the same...
