I went there to have some lunch which looked great from the front side, very busy with tons of choices from sandwiches to pastries or even huge dessert. I hoped for the restaurant bit because there was more space to sit down but I was a bit put off when I was asked to sit on the other room in the back. It looked like totally different place with different style and more let down. The menu was in this flimsy transparent container which screamed of cheap and probably never cleaned. It doesn't take much to buy a plastic machine, they cost just 20 gbp nowdays.... It would give much better impression. I ordered my food and I would say service was 50/50 , not rude just a bit unkind but maybe is the Welsh way. Food was allrigt, just wished they would offer the pastries selection as the one you can take away.

Step into a world where flavor reigns supreme and every bite feels like a celebration! This enchanting eatery serves up fabulous food that dances on the palate and an atmosphere that wraps around you like a warm, joyful breeze. The desserts? Works of art—almost too beautiful to eat, yet somehow tasting even better than they look (and that’s saying something!). The magic doesn’t end with the food; the prices are delightfully down-to-earth, making indulgence entirely guilt-free. If you find yourself in Porthmadog, do not miss this place—it’s not just a recommendation, it’s a quest worth undertaking for lunch or dinner. A true must-visit for any food lover or seeker of delicious adventure!

I've definitely been here twice now, both times with my 'mate' Carl. He's a person worth knowing in my opinion. We came back because the location is good, the food is good, good is good. The service is also quick, which is good. Both times we visited we ordered the burgers and chips (we forgot to order the rather delectable onion rings the 2rd time). Very delicious, and the right amount of calories to set you up for a meaty walk around some of the very best parts of Wales. There are tables for eating outside, which we used the 1nd time. I didn't have time to sample the toilet facilities unfortunately. I assume they are good. Diolch!

As instructed we waited outside at the counter to be seated only for another lady to push in and rather than say I was there first she disappeared with customer, her family and their 3 dogs inside the restaurant. After another 5 minutes of staff just walking past she returned and said if we wanted a meal we would have to sit inside as outside was self service only. We were taken through a very cramped restaurant where rather than showing us to our table she pointed across the room and said sit there. No further instructions about ordering were given. The table was clean and tidy and there was a screen on a small wall separating our table and the next but as the walkway between tables was so small we weren't even arms length away from the other table. We were also sat near people with dogs which weren't very quiet and had obviously been for a swim as all you could smell was wet dog! It was very warm in there as well which didn't help. After 10 minutes our order was taken and I took the children to the toilet. Not very hygienic and no toilet roll. The cold tap didn't work and the hot water was extremely hot. It was very small for the size of the restaurant with only 2 toilets but no waiting room. I told my daughter not to use the and dryer as it was filthy. The gourmet burger was very thin, the chips had obviously been sat a while as very shrivelled and dry and the coleslaw was warm. Not worth £9.95 . My daughter had a children's meal which I thought was a good deal at £6.95 with a drink and pudding. It was a good size but the chicken nuggets was dripping with grease and the chips very dry. We also got charged for the drink and weren't offered a pudding. They were very busy and were very keen to clear the table even before we had finished. There was plenty of seating outside so maybe they should let people sit outside or at least people with dogs. We paid £50 for 3 burgers and chips, 1 kids meal and 3 drinks. I don't think it was worth it at all. The staff were friendly and trying their best, if I went again I'd try the self service counter as the food and cakes did look really appealing. I think the atmosphere, smell and barking, prices for quality and also the toilets...

The Birds!

We decided to eat at the cafe at 2.45, just after the main stream lunch. We sat outside in open covered area (new not shown on picture). The Area was busy but with many people finishing their meals at this time. By the time, we received our food, many diners had left which is when the birds came, crows, pigeons etc to scavenge the scraps left on plates, crumbs on tables and food dropped on the floor.

It was like eating a meal in an avery. The pigeons were not scared jumping/flying onto all tables, even the table to my right , coming closer even though I tried to scare them off; they didn't care.

The people to my left had just finished their meal and soon left with this infestation going on. A flying rat, sorry pigeon, landed on their table to eat the scraps left on their plates. A young employee of the cafe, quickly came to remove ther plates but bearing in mind I and my partner were still eating she made no attempt to scare the pigeons in a direction away from us, in fact, to my disbelief, she unintentionally, without thinking or common sence, scared the pigeon towards us which made it jump behind us but then I guess it felt trapped causing it to fly over us at head height while we were eating. I left my meal after this point, I did feel a little sick.

I started to think how clean are the tables and overall area was. I did make a comment to my partner saying there is a good chance we will go blind soon with the potential for catching some sort of vermin disease.

I assume the cafe had a policy for Covid during that time, therefore, why not have a policy for the vermin birds potentially spreading serious germs and disease. Bird Flu?

Possible Solutions Plastic eagles to scare them away Netting to stop them coming into the seated area Shotgun, though the cafe might get raided by police.

Overall, probably the worst cafe experience of my...

Very disappointing doesn’t deserve any * rating at all. Expensive poor quality food. You would expect this kind of stuff at a down at heel little cafe for half the price. On a Sunday in Porthmadog a lot of places are closed and it is all too easy to end up here. My instinct was to avoid the place but my husband was so hungry he was starting to pace like a tiger and they did offer a number of vegetarian options. I asked the proprietor about the veg curry option at £12.25. He said it was veg curry, rice and chips. I asked if it had any protein he said no and made excuses about why not. In the end he agreed to give me some cheese instead of the chips. He pointed out that the curry was very popular and it was his wife’s recipe so I was expecting something tasty. What turned up was very peculiar…some shredded pepper, and red cabbage and tinned pineapple was all I could identify in a brown gooey gravy like substance which I suspect was a cheap packet curry mix. My husband was more happy with his veggie breakfast but didn’t rate the Glamorgan sausage that the proprietor raved about - that was little more than mashed potatoes and leek in an deep fried sausage shape. They seemed nice people but have no idea about providing balanced good quality food at a reasonable price....
