Cleanliness attention to detail not spot on, signs of dust and hair found on the bed and sink.
No body wash as far as we were aware but shampoo and conditioner provided.
Decor in room a little tired, paint needs touching up in places, all you need to know book could do with replacing.
Bed on the smaller side, probably more of a small double than a double.. pillows need to be firmer maybe a personal preference but I think many would agree as there was no reinforcement when laying head down.
Lamp on side table could do with a button on cable instead of up inside the top of the lamp as it’s awkward trying to reach it.
Toothbrush holder nice touch as well as preordering breakfast night before - maybe not to everyone’s taste because at first I wasn’t too sure but I actually enjoyed it.
Lady serving breakfast is attentive, loves her job and never complains. Porridge is 5*’s nice and thick, tasty and filling.
The sausages are also a must to eat for breakfast, they taste locally sourced and light.
The door to get into the accommodation building is a bit of a nightmare, it’s a bit of a struggle opening it. Room 5 can get quite hot and so the windows need to be opened but as there is a pub next door many of the pub goers are outside talking loudly, drunk and smoking which can mean you have to shut the windows to keep out the smoke.
Rooms next door are heard as when they use any water facilities this makes a sound through the room.
Hotel is close to railway, maritime museum, petrol garage and high street.
Would not recommend the pub next door not related to this establishment as went on the first night and believe I may have got...
Read moreWe have used the restaurant on several occasions before over the years, hence our return. This time we opted to stay onsite too, our room was on the ground floor, directly next to the restaurant, the walls are so thick we couldn't hear a thing. Our room was compact and quite perfect for two, the shower was brand new and quite amazing, especially after a long walk over The Cob, around the town and back. Our evening meal was truly amazing, as previously, top quality produce, cooked by the chef, I had the seafood linguine and my wife chose the chicken pie, house wine sensibly priced too, the waiter Caron, was really on the ball, he's only been with the group for a few weeks and what a credit to them he is, spot on Caron, 5 *. Our breakfast the following morning was served by Natalie, a great way to start the day for sure, yogurt, fruit, cereals etc to start, then the cooked brekkie was served most swiftly, all items plated separately on the one plate, nice and hot too. We cannot wait to return in March for our Wedding Anniversary, just the one night mind, due to our commitments back home.
Each time we have visited, the staff have all, with no exceptions, been brilliant, they have a laugh with you, they are efficient, they are knowledgeable of the menu and the wine list. They give a good feeling of confidence in their environment.
My only recommendation / request would be, hypoallergenic pillows as opposed to feather ones, this is not a...
Read moreNot really sure how I managed to book this, must have misread the price. At £115 per night we expected a lot more than we got. A small room with single beds, albeit comfortable, the smallest television they could find, a very limited selection of tea and coffee in the room and no bottled water. Even the kettle took an age to boil. The en-suite was not the greatest as the shower cubicle was so small it was difficult to move enough to shower properly and there were no shelves for products. Breakfast has to be preordered the night before, not a fan but it does save waste, or as I was told, it makes it easier for the staff. It is taken in the adjoining restaurant, at the pre-booked time. The quality of the breakfast was reasonable but did notice that for the three days we stayed the cooking quality varied. I had scrambled eggs as part of my breakfast on all three days. Saturday and Monday they were lovely and buttery but Sunday was rather different, a bland, dry version. The Sunday pot of tea only contained one teabag and had no extra water to top up. Just silly little things but when you are paying those sort of rates, not good. Did like the Welsh pork and leek sausages for breakfast and the buttered smoked haddock is a must. Would not stay here again as the value for money is...
