Update on the review below and one star knocked off. Here's the updated review:

The food was not so good today and prices have gone up. Our meals were now closer to £10 each, although this comes with a soft drink. My food was cold with less than enough on a plate. I had the vegetarian burger and chips. The burger was OK, although it was very small and there wasn't a lot of chips. The others with me had fish and chips each. The fish was overcooked, the few chips they had were cold and the mushy peas were a bit dried up. We decided to see how puddings go and, having ordered apple crumble with custard previously, we decided to do so again. Clearly the apple crumble had been placed in a bowl cold, together with cold custard, and heated to an extreme level in the microwave. This pudding was very hot, to burn your mouth. The custard had a thick skin on top and the crumble had solidified. Most of our puddings were wasted, and at £5 each they are no longer cheap.

What a shame. I've been there many times and enjoyed the food. Tonight, it was less than adequate.

Old review:

Good food at a ridiculously reasonable price. I had beef chilli, my wife had chicken with noodles. I had a pint of ale and my wife had lime and soda. All for a few pence over thirteen pounds. Amazing really. It's typical pub food although it was very nice. A very clean pub and really quite an enjoyable afternoon. I would recommend and will...

Not a great night!

Visited tonight on 01.03.2018

Food was good , I must admit no problems there. I ordered a pudding and my partner went up for an extra jug of custard. In the end having seen it sit and sit on a hot plate I went up to the kitchen window and asked "Is this for table 42". The chef replied yes and I explained it was for myself and asked if I could take it to my table as I knew it had been there a while. He did apoligise.

First time at the bar got served even though it was heaving quite quickly. My second attempt after waiting ten minutes or more with one member of staff knowing I was there and carrying on serving a larger crowd who kept coming up having finished one order to order more and queue jumping I walked off.

Third problem. Partner bought myself a hot chocolate. The milk in the machine had gone off. Tried to complain again at the bar had to wait and wait so in the end left with no hot chocolate and no satisfaction and a machine that will have churned out more gone off milk, I just hope others notice the lumps in their drinks before consuming it and being violently Ill after.

All in all a bit disappointing and I...

Good food and place"USUALLY". I'm no drinker but they do have a very good selection of drinks. Good atmosphere in th place. Family friendly environment, can't fault the place really. Until this evening meal, of what was supposed to be a steak and eggs night.. well I ordered mine and my partners meal and mine was missing the eggs at first and the chips were wet and I had no vinegar or sauce and the steak was well done even though i did ask for medium, I'm not sure if they have thought of peeling the mushrooms?? And one of the waitresses walked by asking if all was ok and I did say "not really" but hey up she was already gone.... it has to be the worst meal i have PAID for in a long time.. take a look at the pics of how raw the eggs were when they eventually arrived and at how wet the chips look.. not appetizing at all. I highly doubt they will even have these pics up for more than a minute anyway but if they don't show their pictures it shows they are and should be embarrassed of their food they served tonight...as said earlier, it was a good place to go but for me that meal was enough for me not...

Very nice Wetherspoons most of seatting areas are pleasant , during winter I'm sure they have a log fireplace which iv seen in the past, came for a curry night which is on Thursdays, normally have the flaming dragon curry which seems to hotter than I remember 😰 . Food came within 10 minutes of order and was well worth the £16 odd for 2 large curries & drinks , may go for the beef madres next time 😎. Portion size is great as is quality to satisfy your curry craving. As with all Wetherspoons food and drink is very reasonably priced with this being one of the nicer locations to visit, with the bonus of a beer garden outside :), parking can be busy.

The pilar of the community. At day time you’ll find groups of the older generation sitting around chatting, either with the refillable coffees or with a post-work pint. The food menu is enormous and is on the high-end of the Weatherspoon’s quality scale. They have every beer or ale known to man and the prices would’ve been considered reasonable, even back in the 00’s. Finally, the atmosphere and decor is magnificent, with wooden beams, a working and real fire in winter time and a great monkey tree (locals know). Oh and it’s a winner of the Loo of the Year award! Genius. 😂
