I used this as a meeting spot before travelling up through Wales. It's a lovely little place tucked in a bit from the main road in Chepstow. From the moment I walked into the cafe, the staff were friendly and welcoming. At 9am on a Sunday, it was nearly empty, though it started filling up as I left. We ordered Eggs Royale with an oat milk latte, a Full Veggie English with a pot of tea, and a Bacon and Egg Bap with a hot chocolate. There were happy faces all round. No complaints about the visit, and we'll definitely be back again.

Popped in to the Ugly Mug after an impromptu trip to the area. Staff were friendly and the decor pleasant. We both decided to go for paninis, BBQ beef and pulled pork. Both turned up with a nicely crisped panini and no shortage of filling, clearly freshly made. The side salad and slaw were tasty and plentiful. Great coffee and resonable prices too. Will be back the next time we are in the area.

Lovely people, both staff and customers. They catered to my dietary requirements, I had an oat Pumkin Spice Latte (way better than Starbucks) and a gluten free carrot cake (was too excited to take a picture 😂). Not only was it all delicious but it was presented with care and so affordable! Will have to come back when we’re next in town 💜

I can't understand why this place has the best reviews in Chepstow. It was slightly tatty and rundown, the table hadn't been cleaned, there was a small notice on the wall saying in busy periods expect to wait 35 minutes, except we only saw it after we'd ordered. I specifically asked for my coffee to come with my food, however it arrived straight after ordering and yes 35 minutes before the food. We only ordered paninis,it shouldn't have taken that long, they really should have more people on food prep in the summer months. When the paninis arrived they were rather small with a very uninteresting salad. We thoroughly enjoyed looking round the castle however lunch was a sad ending...

I tried this place thinking it looked nice. I wanted to sit outside so was quite rudely told to wait at a table and somebody will take my order. I waited half an hour and it wasn't at all busy, nobody came and took my order so I left. Wanting to give the place a second chance I went back a couple of weeks later and pretty much the same thing happened again. Acknowledgment that I was waiting and a friendly "I'll be with you in a minute" was all it would've taken. If you're going to have tables outside it might help if you actually...
