After having an absolute nightmare on Mother’s Day at another restaurant ‘roti pani’, this restaurant ‘shimla peppers‘ saved the day and welcomed us with open arms.
They offered us indoor or outdoor seating. I thought it would be too cold outside but the garden/decking area had such a Mediterranean feel to it we decided to try it after the waiter said he will heat up the whole area - I was more curious than anything so we tried it.
To my amazement the waiter managed to heat up the whole outside decking area using just 4 outdoor halogen heater/lights. Honesty felt like we were on holiday.
Starters and mains were served on time and came out piping hot just as we like. Food was super tasty and I could tell everything was freshly prepared using good quality ingredients. The chicken curry I ordered was divine. Naan was soft as you like and drinks were plentiful and flowing.
2 waiters that made our night very special and were very attentive making sure we were always topped up and didn’t have to wait more than 30 seconds to get there attention - customer service at its finest.
Jahid and Miah were both absolutely perfect waiters and hope they get recognition and a bonus for their outstanding customer service!!
Will definitely be visiting this...
Read moreI'm really bummed out about this place. I thought we'd have a good time there after a long day, but when we got there, the guy who greeted us looked like he just got out of bed. He was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. He didn't seem to have any professionalism or a friendly greeting. First impressions are important, right? So, it didn't start off well at all. Then we asked to sit outside because it was nice, but there were so many flies everywhere. So we decided to change our minds and asked to move inside. The waiter then came to take our order 10 minutes later, before we placed our order we asked if the food was halal and he said yes. So we went ahead and placed our order. About 20-25 minutes later, I went to ask how long for the drinks and food, only to be told by the waiter who had been dealing with us from the start that the food is not halal. I was really annoyed and asked how can you not know, he responded. I've been working here for 11 years and I just discovered that we're not halal. This waiter who has been serving previous customers has been providing wrong info about halal food. Then he just shrugged his shoulders when I asked why he didn't tell us earlier. We left feeling disappointed and disgusted with...
Read moreWe visited on Thursday evening and were not disappointed. The restaurant recently relaunched and this was our first visit since then. What a transformation! The decor is wonderful, the atmosphere welcoming and relaxing, and the service efficient but not overbearing. We were seated on the balcony with a lovely view of St Matthew's church. They also have wonderful infrared heaters on the balcony, which throws out just enough heat to take the chill off. An excellent idea. The menu is compact, which I found to be reassuring as it was obvious the dishes that made the cut were carefully thought out. We shared the mixed platter to start. Delicious morsels of salmon, beef, chicken and mushrooms went down extremely well. There was also a vegetarian version available. As for mains, my choice of the lamb saag was absolutely the right one. The meat was melt in the mouth and the spinach creamy. My dining companion's choice of the chicken jalfrezi was also a good one; extremely tasty by all accounts. A portion of pilau rice and naan complemented the dishes perfectly. Please give this restaurant a try; it is much improved and we shall be back very soon for another...
